shitoken Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Hi I am having a strange problem since yesterday morning RA emu. I have 3 Set NES/Famicom/NFDS to use core Nestopia.dll and renamed all 3 config files as per the system name. All other systems run smoothly except NFDS it loads but then become black screen, but on top the frames numbers are running but no sound no screen. Disksys.rom is exist in RA/System directory . I tried to remove the config file and recreate new one but same . Even tried re downloading new RA with new cores but still same. Don't know if is related to NTSC/PAL problem but it was working fine yesterday. Hope experience members have some clue on this issue.
Styphelus Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Haven't set it up yet, but so far every time I get a black screen with RA, it's either the bios file or the roms. More often than not it's my rom set and I've had to download a different rom set.
gigapig Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I agree with Styphelus, I think it's your Roms. I set this up for the first time today to test it and it worked first time. I created the nestopia cfg, renamed it and that was all.
gigapig Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Forgot to mention, is there any official media for this system, there was no database so I created my own, so I guess not.
shitoken Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Mine was working good but suddenly now goes to black screen with only frame rates counter on top border The XML, bios and roms I got ready made from the frontend torrent which was very handy and complete. Gigapig please keep us updated when you try second or 3rd time. I have complete set of this system, I don't know if is bios issue but I tried changing to other one still same. if you can run without problem hope you can share your bioz for me to check. thanks I am not sure if my media is complete but I will check for you.
pinsanity Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 How are you guys getting around the set side B problem that most FDS games require you to manually (or in this case artificially) flip the disk over through the emulator itself to continue playing each game? Most FDS games have this problem that I played or tried to.

I saw that issue but didn't look into it. Shitoken, did you add any shaders? Some will cause a black screen.
pinsanity Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I saw that issue but didn't look into it. Sort of a preemptive heads up more than anything as every emulator I have tried runs into this problem with FDS. Just about every game once past the title screen requires you to go into the emulator menu and to simulate flipping the disk over to side B to continue on with the game itself. I'm currently using FCeux and using the inbuilt emulator menu bar options to flip the disc. Not ideal, but it works.

I use Nestopia for this, and there is a module setting that let's you assign a button for flipping the disk. Works great.

Thanks for all the info guys, perhaps in this case nestopia would be the better option until maybe something is added to the RetroArch module. I can't see a setting in HLHQ for the disc flipping, Dime.

shitoken Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Finally what I did was deleted all the bios which I got for this and re-downloaded new one with boot sector bios from emu and wow screen came up. Now regarding the flip disk function I have to learn if can set in RA, I am still a beginner and setting up one by one without joystick which I planned to do at last. Gigapig I checked my media all complete and XML with 91 sets roms. Is there any website we can come to know if the games are all complete per system?
shitoken Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Bros, Finally I have problem with side B, what is the easiest way to do if I want to use RA?

Yeah, based on Dime333's post, I've now swapped over to Nestopia from Fceux as I can't find an option to set up a hotkey in Fceux for the disk flip requirement. Nestopia's by default is (shift or as dime said set your own key in Nestopia's config settings. No idea whether RA has this option though?
