BladeZX Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I am looking for a marquee lcd screen that will fit in the Ultimate Arcade II cabinet from North Coast Custom Arcades (mameroom) I think it would be cool to have it display the marquee for the game you are playing or just play my marquee logo when in HS. Any suggestions from anyone that has done this I believe the marque size area is: 27” x 7-7/16” HyperPin Manager | HyperSpin Manager | HyperSpin Checker | HyperSpin Renamer ASRock Z77 Extreme4 MB | Core i5 3570K | Coolermaster Hyper212 EVO CPU cooler | 16GB RAM | OCZ Vertex 4 128Gb SSD (Windows 8) | OCZ Vertex 4 256Gb SSD (HS and all emulators and media) | Gigabyte GTX670 2Gb video card | 27" ASUS LED monitor | 650W Corsair PSU
esmith13 Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Since the chances of you getting a LCD with that hight to width ratio for a reasonable price is practically NIL - how about this? Buy the cheapest small/medium projector you can find and gut out the lighting completely in the marquee area and project a marquee onto milky white semi-transparent plexiglass (which you would buy to replace your clear marquee plexi). 99% of projectors support image mirroring for rear-projection applications. That way you can project at 1024x768 for example and the upper and lower thirds of the image simply don't project thru the marquee area. I just built my first arcade for a friend and have to make two more (one for me) and already thought about trying this for mine. :-) Eric Completed my 1st Arcade Cabinet Aug. 2012 after 2yrs planning and saving... - GONE 2 days later to a friend!! ... evil eye Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 That sounds like a good idea, I wonder how good that would look in the marquee area? Might try this one day as I'm in the same boat as Blade.
BladeZX Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 For those that have the LG 2900S lcd... how big is it when it is decased. It is probably too big and really do not want to cut my cabinet. Is there an example video or pics of the install mentioned above? esmith13 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Apparently it's been done with a commercial grade marquee LCD too. BladeZX Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Looks nice. That is a wide cabinet. Is that the LG M2900S lcd? If so is it decased - how big is it decased? Kabazz Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 I just decased a 2900S to see, it only made a marginal difference. Dimensions are roughly 30" x 12" either way, there's just a 16th or so of difference. If anyone wants one btw I have two I needa get rid of.
BladeZX Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 Kabazz, Do u still have the 2900S or know where I can get one? How much do they sell for? Kabazz Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Kabazz,Do u still have the 2900S or know where I can get one? How much do they sell for? Thanks No sorry, I got rid of the two I had. You should take a look at the LG 29EA93 It's pricey and perhaps a bit to big for most taste, but it's certainly an option.

If you buy direct it is quite a bit cheaper. They are on chinese new years until Feb 18. (I dont own one but have exchanged several emails with them because Im considering purchasing one). Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. Allows you to enable two additional displays as a Marquee and a controls help screen as well as map UltraStik 360 controls. Works exclusively with Hyperspin.

or8ital Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Sure. I was quoted $400 for the 32" model if I purchased it directly. I'm currently working on some software to use two additional monitors with hyperspin. One to show the control panel buttons being used and their action and the other for a changing marquee. BladeZX Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Has anyone come across an LCD marquee that will work in the UA II cabinets from Mameroom? I am still looking but have not found anything yet. DrZhark Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Hi I'm on the planning stages of my custom arcade and I just scored a brand new LG M2901s for $175 The thing is huge!!! 29" diagonal 17:6 ratio. Now I need to add a 32" widescreen LCD as the main screen for my cabinet, that is going to end of being way bigger than initially planned. The place where I bought it has 2 extras. They're in Mississauga, ON and they ship to U.S. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-monitors/mississauga-peel-region/lg-m2901s-large-format-display-29-new-open-box-grade-a-lcd/1012374352
