chewieconcarne Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Hi all! New to HyperSpin, and getting everything set up and running. So far, it's amazing, and I'm enjoying arcade gaming again on my home built cabinet. I however do have an issue with my USB joystick not working in the HyperSpin menus to select games, scroll, etc. It's a generic 10 button joystick and otherwise works perfectly in emulators, etc. In HyperSpin HQ, I am able to have it properly detected and set the corresponding mappings with Joystick support enabled. However when in HyperSpin, 99% of the time the controls don't respond and the one or two times it does, it just causes the wheel menus to spin until I hit a key on the keyboard. Keyboard works fine for selection but I'd rather use the joystick setup. Any idea what I might need to set, etc? Here are some general specs of my setup: - Win 7 x64 - HyperSpin 1.0 (per the downloads on the site here) - Joystick is basically this cheapo (but hey it otherwise actually works for my first rig here) http://www.amazon.com/Double-Motion-Arcade-Joystick-Fighting/dp/B00M9ZGFDU/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1427282778&sr=8-6&keywords=USB+arcade+joystick Any help is greatly appreciated:adore:! I did search before posting, but did not get any relevant hits.
gigapig Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Hello chewieconcarne, welcome to the forum. Your problem is very well known and would probably come up in a search. There is a bug with HyperSpin and joystick/Trackball/Spinner, basically you can't use them if they are selected in HyperSpin, so please uncheck them. An alternative is to use this Startup Script (hopefully it will work with your controller) or failing that you will need Xpadder or joy2key.
chewieconcarne Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 Thank you Gigagpig! I didn't realize it had a bug. Been working through the docs and searching and didn't come up with anything but appreciate your response. I snagged the script and an updated version of Hyperlaunch as well and will give it a go tonight.
olytechy Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I have the same issue. I used the HS Startup Script and I can get everything on the joysticks to work excepting starting a ROM. Some reason enter works to change menu's and select but once I setup joystick mapping enter will no longer enter a rom. Any idea's? Been fighting with this for a while.

I'm going to add 2 U360 joystics, 2 Turbo Twist hi-lo spinners (connected via USB hub) and a track ball (connected via USB hub) to my control panel. That's not going to cause me issues with Hyperspin not working is it?

You can use gamepads via xpadder or ghutchs' start up script but not if set in HyperHQ. BBB is working on HyperSpin again so hopefully the Joystick bug will be fixed soon.
Metalzoic Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 So they can't control it, but they also won't interfere with it working right? I will still be using an iPac control board for joystick/button inputs which works perfectly fine right now. I just don't want to have it quit working because I added new controls to it. Thanks.

Just don't select them in HyperHQ in the control section and you won't have any troubles.
damageinc86 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I'd use AntiMicro to have different navigation profiles attached to different controllers. It can be set up to auto apply on startup of the program. My Gamecube, NES, PS1, and xbox one mini usb controllers all have their own profile active at all times. So I can pick up any one of them and navigate hyperspin.
Refack Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 hi i tryed deselecting it in hyperhq still not working i have the same problem soo frustrating
Refack Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 i found a solution watch this! it is in a different language but just watch what he is doing, starts by updating hyper launch then shows you the fix it help me so i want to pass it on
Metalzoic Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 After doing some more reading it looks like Ultimarcs U360 joysticks have trouble in Hyperspin also. Sounds like they might spin the wheel uncontrollably. Hopefully this isn't the case because I am planning on rebuilding my CP with them.
erwanfaisha Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Hi, Im using ghutchs' start up script and disabled joystick in HyperHq. everything works well (despite the crazy wheel spin sometimes) but once i selected a game from a system, i can only exit the game back to HS by using the Esc from the keyboard even though in the script i specified an unassigned button (top button 10) for any system as an exit. Can somebody help?
