RetroArch takes 3 seconds to launch a game

Hello guys,

I'm using HL 1.3.2.0 with RL (latest beta) and RetroArch 18 April 2015 build (today).

Every time I launch a game, I need to wait 3 seconds before seeing the first picture of the game. On the other hand MAME launch games instantly.

Anyone knows why this delay?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thanks for the fix but it did not solve my problem.

It seems that when I turn off shaders or I use simple one, games run instantly, but when I use advanced shaders like crt-royale (it has 12 differents filters), games takes 3/4 seconds for SNES and 2 seconds for NES.

Can it be the problem? Because N64 games and GBA games open instantly and they dont have any shaders setting up.

Thanks.

have you set your loggong level to normal in HLHQ nd also tried the older module 2.2.0 as the new ones seem to be causing slow down/long waits for some users. Last option is Bezel.. ensure its disabled in testing, again, slowdown... but its mostly the module

That shared.ahk I posted will fix the slow load in the current Retroarch module... There's no need to use 2.2.0.

DJVJ fixed it

My Logging Level? It's on Error, should I turn it off?

I'm using the version 2.2.6 and Ive replaced the shared.ahk, but no effect.

Can you upload the right module?

Thanks.

I don't think your problem is module related... CRT Royale is a demanding shader... If you're having issues using certain shaders, maybe it's your CPU or GPU?

I have a GTX580 and an [email protected]. Maybe you are right about crt royale, its pretty demanding.

For example GameBoy games run instantly with the GB shader, it may depends on shaders yes.

Edit: I will try to switch shaders now.

Well it does not fix my problem, when I turn off shaders, SNES roms take the same time to load...

Edit: It seems that it depends of the games, some SNES games boot quickly, others need 3 seconds before seeing the first screen, it may depends on the rom size, I dont know.

Can someone share an old version of RA module?

Thanks in advance.

Edit2: The module 2.1.5 does not fix the problem.

It's nothing to do with the module. BSNES takes a few extra seconds because RA has to do some extra stuff to convert a ROM into Higan's ROM folder format (I think it does this in RAM, so this process is invisible to the user). Royale is a complex 12 pass shader, so any core you use that on will add a few extra seconds as it initializes.

I'm running RA on an old box and I have the same issue..

I just close my eyes... think happy thoughts and when I open them.... yay Super Mario World ;)
