ChrisKant Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Hi Everyone, how can I configure my PC System with Games I have completely installed on my PC that I bought in Store together with Steam Games? The PC installed Games without Steam works well and perfect but I have no Idea how to connect Steam to this "PC Games" Wheel.
damageinc86 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Just add them to your PC games database, and under pclauncher module in Hyperlaunch go to ...i think it's system specific settings? a gear icon looking thing, and add the steam game just like you added your pc games. Depending on your steam Id, you might have to go to the steam id file and add a new entry for HL to point to.
ChrisKant Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 sorry, but I don't get it really :-( where can I make the Steam Settings? all PC games work perfect, but the Steam Game gives me a error "you are trying to use Steam and Application, you must choose one or the other." this is the only place where I found anything specific for Steam. The Game SteamID
damageinc86 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 hmmm i never ran into that. Someone else probably knows what that is about.
Capn Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 If the game is not a steam game then you need to clear out the option of "steam ID" under the game settings in your HL. This should resolve that problem. Leave steam ID empty for non steam games.
Metalzoic Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I just got this all figured out within the past couple weeks. I'm also a noob so hopefully I can remember for you. I found that most of the tutorial vids out there actually confuse the issue far more than clear it up. Hopefully I don't do the same, but I'm going from memory here... -Sounds like you already have a "PC Games" system (or whatever you call it) and it is running the PCLauncher emu. So that's good. -Firstly here is a link to the Steam Wheel Creator tool (courtesy of TogaForComfort who gave me the link): http://bit.ly/1bd6anM -OK. So you can either add your Steam games manually into your existing PC Games database XML (found in the hyperspin/databases folder) or you can use the Steam Wheel Creator (SWC) to build a new Steam games database with all SteamID's automatically added and then manually add your existing PC games to that database. Whichever is easiest for you. What I did is a bit of both. Like you I had all my non-steam PC games working first. Then I renamed that database to "PC Games backup" (make sure you back this up as the SWC will overwrite everything you already have). Then I had the SWC link to my Steam account, build an XML database of my games & download MP4 theme vids (I didn't have it make themes, wheel names etc... since I did that bit myself). Then I took that new Steam database and copy pasted the games into my "backup database" in alphabetical order (I added the ESRB rating myself, SWC doesn't do that). Once I had them all together in one database I deleted the SWC version and renamed my "backup" back to PC Games. Done. I'd say the best thing to do is backup your database and play with the SWC to figure it out, it isn't to hard, but it is a bit weird. First pick "Create New" at the top. The next screen will ask for your personal accounts SteamID. I found this by going to the Steam website, click on your name at the top right, then click on "View Profile", then look in the actual URL address bar of your browser and you should see something like this: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/7636119478420742/ (number changed to protect the guilty). That number at the end is your Steamaccount ID. Just copy and past that into the SWC. Where it says system you would put PC Games (or whatever you named yours)... TIP: If you choose to manually add the steam games you can easily find an individual games SteamID by going to the start menu, steam folder, right click on the game and select properties and the number is right there. Here is what my database looks like with one Steam game and one non-Steam game: <game SteamAppId="281220" name="BloodRayne - Betrayal"> <description>BloodRayne Betrayal</description> <manufacturer>WayForward, Abstraction Games</manufacturer> <year>2014</year> <genre>Action</genre> <rating>ESRB - M (Mature)</rating> </game> <game SteamAppId="0" name="Crazy Taxi" index="true" image="0"> <enabled>Yes</enabled> <description>Crazy Taxi</description> <manufacturer>Sega</manufacturer> <year>1999</year> <genre>Driving</genre> <rating>ESRB - E (Everyone)</rating> </game>-After you have the database built you need to update the SteamIDs.ini file. This file is located in Hyperspin/Modules/PCLauncher and is a long list of Steam games that looks like this: [307780] title=Mortal Kombat X exe=MK10.exeWhat you need to do is make sure all the games you are adding are on this list with the correct SteamID and the correct Steam .exe file (as found in Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/gamefolder). Many of your games may aleady be on this list (just do a CTRL+F to search for them) if not then I copied a random games info (like in the code above) pasted it back into the list, added the new games SteamID between the brackets, it's name as it is called in the database (not what I named it on the wheel, but the actual name Steam calls it) and then typed in the name of the .exe. Once you have them all added just save it.-Finally you need to add them in Rocket/Hyperlauncher so go into HyperlaunchHQ. Go to the Modules tab and select PC Games from the left system column (or whatever you call your PC game system). Under Modules select PCLauncher and the click the Edit Global Module settnings button above. From this screen click the big plus icon to add one of the games into the module. Once you click it it should show a list of any game in your database that you haven't added into the module yet, games you've already added will populate the box above the + icon. Double click a game and it should auto-fill the SteamID section for that game down below. That's it. Steam game is added. Do not add the path to the game's .exe, leave it blank. It isn't needed for Steam games and will actually cause an error. -HOWEVER. You probably have a couple steps left depending on the game. Most games will probably need to set up the FadeTitle option down below so it doesn't hang while trying to launch (I'm guessing you're familiar with this since you already did some PC games?). You will also probably find that some games need extreme fiddling to get the controls working right (but that's a whole other can of turds). Wow. That's a lot of info, but hopefully it helps you. It was painful piecing all this together myself from the useful bits of videos, posts etc... Seems crazy to me that there isn't a tutorial I could find that just laid it all out. Hopefully I didn't forget anything to important. Good luck!
ChrisKant Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 sadly, the error Message is still there :-( "...trying steam and application..." edit: I will ask in the RL Forum too
Metalzoic Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 In the PC Games Hyperlaunch module at the bottom did you put the games SteamID and also put the path to the .exe above that? If so that's the problem. You ONLY put the SteamID for steam games. For non-Steam PC games you only put the path to the .exe.

Now I have to manage the FadeIN things.
ChrisKant Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 now another Problem comes together with this Project. Everytime I will Start the Steam Games over Hyperspin, the Steam Account Windows appears and want to have my log in Data... else the Games won't play :-( any Ideas?

Everytime I will Start the Steam Games over Hyperspin, the Steam Account Windows appears and want to have my log in Data... else the Games won't play :-( any Ideas? Yeah. What I did is in the Steam settings set it to auto-log you in and also set it to automatically start when Windows starts. I also turned off the Steam overlay and turned off notifications. That way it is already running in the background before you ever launch a game in hyperspin.
Metalzoic Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 that was the problem. I did both things thank you so much. Now I have to manage the FadeIN things. I'll edit my instructions to mention that.
damageinc86 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I also had to find the setting to turn off the window that opens up after you quit a game, and shows you crap. needed an internet search for that one, because they don't want you to easily find out how to turn their ads off lol.

Really? where is it, I'd love to turn that ad off too.
Capn Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I'm guessing you didn't see my post earlier. I basically said the same thing to fix your issue with the steamID error. Also, make sure all your games are completely updated i.e. directx and what not. Usually steam has to do some sort of update for each game if you haven't played it in a while.
Capn Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Well, then I just noticed that you did specify which games weren't working. "steam games". If I would have read it slower I would have given you better advice, my bad. Glad you fixed it.
ChrisKant Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 Yeah. What I did is in the Steam settings set it to auto-log you in and also set it to automatically start when Windows starts. I also turned off the Steam overlay and turned off notifications. That way it is already running in the background before you ever launch a game in hyperspin. is there no other solution than autostart steam in the background?
Metalzoic Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Probably, but that's what I do. You don't want steam active in the background?
ChrisKant Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Probably, but that's what I do. You don't want steam active in the background? I believe, that every open Application in the background costs system performance. And every not needed App should be off or shut down. I want to have every possible ressources for the emulators and or pc games I play right at that moment. I have no Idea how many ressources the steam application needs in the background. so, long term short ;-) if there is a way not to have the steam active in background it would be cool
avioni Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 hi , i dont mean to hijack this thread, the OP has fixed his problem but i am more or less on the same boat. what i have done is used "steam wheel creator" to make most everything i think. it create my wheel/art/videos/xml. so when i go to hyperspin everything shows as it should. BUT when i try launching a game i get an error that says "PCLauncher - there was an error getting the process ID from your appWaitExe" and i cannot fix this. i should mention i dont have that rocketlauncher thing. my hyperspin installation is not up to date but ive not had problems until now. I also had non steam games already on the same wheel wich the merged with the steam games all done automatically with steamwheel creator. i have not tested if those still work. any ideas? edit, i have managed to get working my older non steam games by simply re adding their .exe directory in hyperlaunch hq. but i still cannot get the steam games working. i have the name.exe set in appwaitexe. and have the correct steam ID set in steam id. and still. and if i add the game directory under "application" i get an error that im trying to run steam plus another aplication i need to choose only one.
Metalzoic Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Did you follow the steps I poste din post #7? For Steam games you (usually) leave appwaitexe blank. You do not add a path to the exe. You just put the Steam ID number and for some (many?) games you set up the fadeexit info. Then obviously your names all have to match exactly. You also have to add your Steam games to the Steam.ini under Modules\PCLauncher (Steam ID/Matching name/name of .exe in the steam folder).

Unless its ancient, you don't need to worry about having Steam running minimized in the background.

[A.R.E.S] SteamID=92300 [Adventures of Shuggy] SteamID=211440 AppWaitExe=Shuggy.exe [Audiosurf] SteamID=12900 AppWaitExe=QuestViewer.exe [Awesomenauts] SteamID=204300 AppWaitExe=AwesomenautsLauncher.exe [Beat Hazard] SteamID=49600 AppWaitExe=BeatHazard.exe [BIT.TRIP BEAT] SteamID=63700 AppWaitExe=beat.exe and my SteamIDs.ini looks the same inside. there are many more games in them but that basically how it looks. in HLHQ i have tryd leaving the appwaitexe blank and using the fade but it wont work because when i follow the steps in the fade feature the game wont launch itll just give me the same error. i should mention i have my steam games in 2 locations i dont think that matters but maybe it does for hyperspin? i will chek your post #7 again to verify everything once more. i noticed your example of the steamids.ini and changed mine to reflect yours. so instead of having appwaitexe= game.exe i simply wrote exe=game.exe but this still gives me the same error when trying to launch the game. everything else i cheked in yout post#7 looks just right to me.
