zerojay Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 For anyone that hasn't seen the old version of this screensaver, it was already quite amazing. I can't wait to try this out. Thanks a ton.
zerojay Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 You quickly find an excuse to use them when you have something like this running, believe me.
xHyperSteve Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 People still use screensavers? This is quickly evolving into something far beyond a screensaver brother. Be sure to like! Also, subscribe to my YouTube Channel for more videos/HyperSteve https://twitter.com/HyperSteveShow
Luke4239 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Hi everyone, author of the NES screensaver here. Steve did a nice job of covering the new features you can try out in the new beta but to reiterate I really wanted to focus on adding great multi-player support to the screensaver. The idea of having 4+ people be able to navigate around a wall of NES games was just too enticing to pass up, despite being almost completely impractical If you have any bug reports or feature suggestions, please let me know. Steve has already given me some really good ideas about supporting "on the fly" controller detection which I will be implementing as soon as possible. I'll also work with him to get the Mac port added to the top of the thread tonight. It's my first experience developing on the Apple platform so it might be a little rougher than the Windows version, so please have a little patience should you try it out.
Fromlostdays Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 "Yo Walt, It's Friday. You want to hit the city?" "Nah, I'm playing my screen saver, and it's getting deep." "Omw". Awesome job dude. Edit: To Steve - I'm at work so I can't hear the tutorial, but do you cover how this meshes, if at all, with the onboard hyperspin roulette screensaver? Do they conflict. Can we turn the hyperspin saver off? Walter:beerglass:

Can we turn the hyperspin saver off? The tutorial was not made by me but by another individual on youtube.I honestly have no experience with the Hypersaver or HyperSpin screensaver. I'll check it out. You might have to test for conflicts yourself brother. However, I highly recommend you testing out the NES screensaver on it's own it's pretty sweet. Be sure to like! I will also update the original post with these links. For windows: https://www.dropbox.com/s/du0jnr8o9xtf4gb/Nintendo%20Saver1-13-2015.zip?dl=0 As an additional step, after you decompress, open the files properties and delete the .foo part so the extension is ".src". Place in windows/system 32.(Thanks to LostDays) and also The Beta Version for Mac: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i7zu3ksrsvfpi3p/NintendoSaver2015BetaV4.dmg.gz?dl=0 I'll be trying the Mac version on my work laptop, looking forward to your comments and feedback Be sure to like! Fromlostdays Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 The file from the link above for windows has a weird extension ".src.foo" - not sure why. As an additional step, after you decompress, open the files properties and delete the .foo part so the extension is ".src". Place in windows/system 32. Enjoy. Checking this out now. Walter:beerglass:
xHyperSteve Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 Been using the Mac and Windows version for days now! And really have not run into any problems with game play or using the game pad! Fantastic work! Any thoughts lostdays? Be sure to like! Also, subscribe to my YouTube Channel for more videos/HyperSteve https://twitter.com/HyperSteveShow
Fromlostdays Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Yeah, the screensaver is hot, and by that I mean even if you don't intent to launch, this is the only screen saver worth having. But, (and I don't think this has anything to do with the program) Hyperspin seems to over ride windows screen saver settings. I want to look into seeing if we can integrate it with hyperspin. But the workflow! I do more work with my hobby than I do at my actual job haha. Walter:beerglass:
gigapig Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 But the workflow! I do more work with my hobby than I do at my actual job haha. You as well hey There's no Hyperspeech is there? I've never heard of such a thing. Thanks Luke and Steve, I'm going to get this running in the next few days.
Luke4239 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that the 2015 version of the screen saver is officially out this morning! ninja2bceen Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I don't have ubernes as an emulator, rather I have nestopia. does this require ubernes? So you just drop the file in the system 32 folder, any risk of blowing up your computer? Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
xHyperSteve Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 Nope you don't need the emulator just the screensaver. There is a trial video above that should help. Also instructions on the Ubernes website. Highly recommend it. Be sure to like! Also, subscribe to my YouTube Channel for more videos/HyperSteve https://twitter.com/HyperSteveShow
Fromlostdays Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 No risk, Ninja. That's pretty much just where windows looks for the screensaver files, so it'll come up in your list. Walter:beerglass:
ninja2bceen Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Thanks Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
LaugeJ Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Looks awesome, but the Windows dropbox link is showing Error 404. Can't wait to try it!

ninja2bceen Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 testing it now.. it seems that only the first cell game will open in full screen, the rest just play in their tile without being zoomed. Also I can't page over to a new page. What are you settings? edit: figured it out... only have one cursor on! if you have two controllers mapped only have one with a cursor so it zooms in and scrolls over a new page! Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
ninja2bceen Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 I have a keyboard and controller set up just fine but I'm not sure I can get the standard xpadder controls mapped correctly without waking up the screen saver. This is fine unless hyperspin is running in the background and xpadder is on. Does the screensaver ever turn on when hyperspin is on? Standard xpadder controls h,7,0,9,5,1 etc How do you get the second controller working in a 2 player game? I've mapped both controllers to its buttons but the second controller is unresponsive unless I'm at the video wall Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
