loppydog Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I was having a little issue with Hyperspin tonight, and I wanted to mention it here. I just found out that if you have "roms only" selected in HyperHQ, and you have roms located in a sub folder, it crashes Hyperspin when entering the system wheel. I took me forever to figure this out after re-checking every file/folder name and database! Anyway, maybe there will be a way to program this to check subfolders in the future.
Silverback Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I had this problem as well with only a handful of the emulators. Hopefully there can be a fix in future releases/updates.
SilverVice Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I have this problem with my Dreamcast roms folder. Any solution yet?
32assassin Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I had the same problem with all my CD based systems that implement a Bin Cue format, Dreamcast is CDI no need to have sub folders (no problems their) I solved it by switching from roms only to wheels only, and yes you have to remove the wheel images you are not using from the wheel folder in order to filter out games you don't want.
SilverVice Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Dreamcast is CDI no need to have sub folders (no problems their) My Dreamcast are in .GDI with tracks that's why I have the same problem.
MonkeyJug Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I think i read somewhere that this problem fixes itself if you have at least one rom (not in a folder) in the root rom folder, and then you can have as many other folders in that root rom folder. Eg. HyperSpin ROMS _____\Sega Dreamcast __________\Ikaruga.cdi __________\Crazy Taxi (USA) will work, whereas... HyperSpin ROMS _____\Sega Dreamcast __________\Ikaruga (Japan) __________\Crazy Taxi (USA) won't work...
SilverVice Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Thanks, it's true it doesn't crash but it don't see the other games in the folders. Even with the option check.
Deadly Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Raising my hand - damn sub folder scanning doesn't work on mine either. I'm trying to setup Touhou and the problem is there is ONE specific dat file that is different between 2 games. So if I dump the contents of every game into one directory the games work (except the two I mentioned). HS runs them perfectly with all data crammed together. What I have done: Latest version of all HS files being utilized. My folder names and EXE's BOTH have the same name that matches the database as well. And of course HyperHQ is instructed to search sub folders. I have also checked the settings ini to ensure that it coincides with searching sub folders. Can someone please take a look at this issue? There truly are some game setups that it is mandatory the games exist in their own folders. Oddly enough any other emulator I have (Daphne or American Laser Games for instance) all have subfolders but the framefiles are all modified with a direct path instead of .\ and they all work. Thanks for any assistance.
Deadly Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Bumpage. Can anyone shed light as to why sub folder scanning isn't working properly for us few that have posted? Ideas, comments, suggestions highly welcome.
COMMANDERDAILY Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I can't believe I missed this thread! I have been battling the same thing for days now and felt like I was the only one having the issues until I found this. Hopefully a fix can be found.
OoZic Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Same problem here for my Atari ST install: [exe info] path=D:\Emulators\Atari\Atari ST\hatari-1.7.0_windows\ rompath=D:\Systems\ATARI\Atari ST Gamebase\GBST v3.1d\Games\ userompath=true exe=hatari.exe romextension=zip,st parameters= searchsubfolders=true pcgame=false winstate=HIDDEN hyperlaunch=true If I copy the rom to the rompath without being in a sub folder it works, as soon as it is in a subfolder in the rompath (folder "A" for example), Hyperspin can't find it anymore
Lomax Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Can someone from the dev team look into this? I've got a nice neat Rom structure for MAME (Roms/Devices, Roms/Games, Roms/BIOS), and HyperSpin simply does *not* search the subfolders for roms when the "searchsubfolders" option is set to true and the "roms_only" option is set to true in Settings/MAME.ini.
z0mb1edad Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Im having the same issue with epsxe. playstation games launch from hyperspin in subfolders, but when checking the roms only feature they disapear. I also noticed that when using hyper tools list generator only two of my games show up (even if roms only is unchecked in HQ). Both games that show up out of 390+ games are in the direct rom folder, not under subfolders. I was hopeing to use list genereator to remove games that I don't really want in my wheel, but it's not seeing any of the games in subfolders.
Rge Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 is there any solution to this yet? its happening to me and im trying to filter out games i dont want. i have yet to download any game vids or any of the extras yet.
dougan78 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 The solution can be this as 1. Put all your cue files in 1 folder 2. Use list generator to weed out missing ones from xml 3. Put your cue files back I think files to folder utility will do that for you in a snap. Alternate workaround is download a hs friendly set or edit xml manually.
