Super Nintendo ROM Extensions

Hi all

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.  If so mods, please feel free to move it.

Anyway, I am setting up ZSNES emulator in HyperSpin.  Everything was fine apart from the ROM names werent as the should be.  MY ROMs didnt have (USA) or (Japan) etc after their titles.  They were all .7z files too.  No big deal I thought, I'll just use Dons HyperSpin ROM Renamer to rename them all with the (USA) etc additions to their names.  This has worked fine, apart from the process has also extracted the files in the .7z files and given me a whole bunch of .scm files.

Is there a way in HLHQ to add the .scm extension to the accepted list of ROM extension types?

Thanks in advance people.

why don't you use a program like WINRAR or 7z to re-zip all your files?

but if for some reason you feel that you need to keep your roms unzipped,   you add the rom extension to your  emulator settings.

chances are its already their if you are using rocketlauncher

I never used this but their is a program  in the download section.

Personally I unzip all my roms. Given the miniscule size of most roms, I see no point in keeping them compressed. I'd rather just remove the middle-man.

Also, I was just curious about something.

Why would you WANT the country codes listed with all the games? Ever since I started using hyperspin I have neve been able to understand why there is all this extra data in the name of a rom, and then also listed on hyperspin. I have been taking the time to go through and remove all of that from the hyperspin setup myself.

Is it tedious? Dear lord yes, but the end result is instead of:

Super Mario Bros. (USA) (v1.1) (some other stuff here)

You just get:
Super Mario Bros.

To answer your more specific question, yes there is a very easy way to add your extension to HLHQ.

Just locate the emulator settings for ZSNES, when you double-click it there should be a list of accepted file extensions.

If I am not mistaken just put |scm

That's the Shift version of \ before scm for reference.
