The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Worth to upgrade to Rocketlauncher?

I just figured out Hyperlaunch and Hyperspin.. now I see that rocketlauncher is the new program replaycing hyperlaunch. I have had issues with PCE and retroarch and was told that rocketlauncher has newer emulators/modules and it would fix issues. Can anyone confirm? Will I lose all my other settings etc? Is it easy to update?

I did notice some issues with certain emulators.. ie) retroarch is slow to load (even after the module fix applied), null dc will not hide the splash screen on load (even with fade on).

What benefits do I get? ALso I am saving to donate!!! I love hyperspin and want to say thanks.. just saving..

Thanks

Jim

Never had issue with PCE before or after, the nulldc thing wouldn't bother me personally.

Have you read the transition tool instructions? If I were you i would wait till you can get the HS 1.4 beta either when it's released or if you got platinum.

One thing I've noticed with the upgrade and HS 1.3 is, because the HS system ini's are quite heavily modified, you can no longer filter with Roms only. Not a massive problem if you have the correct xml but it may be something to check into first.

Hey

Thanks. I have not seen the transition instructions as I do not know where they are located. I have tried various settings with no luck. I do plan on donating here and emumovies. The issue I have is I just figured out this one L:)

What HS ini's are you talking about? Because the HS ini remained exactly the same as v1.3 also RL does not interfere in any manner with the Roms only filtering of HS so whatever issue you are having it's not related to the RL upgrade at all.

They both use completely independent ini files so RL won't touch the HS ones and vice-versa.

I am referring to section 3b of the transition tool instructions. If you follow those as some have the tool will add info to the system ini's so HyperSpin 1.3 will work with RL 1.0.

In step 8 it says the Rom path and extension must be blank, if that's true then you can no longer filter as I said.

That is how I read it anyway. I'm using 1.4 so I don't have the problem

Ah I see, that's due to a bug in HS and how it sends the parameters to the launcher tool, wasn't aware of that. It's not changing the inis structure though basically what's doing is telling HS to treat RL as some other emulator and direct launch it.

Either way it's still possible to use RL with HS without setting those, you just need a proxy HyperLaunch.exe file that will do nothing other than calling RocketLauncher.exe with the appropriate parameters. This might add 1 extra second or so to the launch, but will do the trick if someone really wants to use HS1.3 and use the roms only filter.

The ini files are backed up to a folder so you can restore them, the only other file that it changes is the "settings.ini" and that only has the HL path changed.

What is not working right.
