Failed to attempt to launch program or document ???

Hi all,

 

Because i've installed hyperspin and rocketlauncher over my old installation, i have this error now i cannot fix :(

Does anyone where i can set the right settings for this error. It seems that some paths are set wrong but i've checked everything in rocketlauncher and as far as i can see, the setting are right. Would appreciate it very much if someone can give me a push in the right direction

 

Error says, system cannot find the specified file (see attached image)

You said you have installed Rocketlauncher which was once known as HyperLaunch. What version of HyperLaunch have you been using and how old is it?

The Transition tool should work with version 3 of HyperLaunch, I'm not sure about later versions. You should have a Hyperlaunch folder unless it is very old.

i have to ask subzero, he helped me installs this... But perhaps it would be better in this stage to try and start over with a new installation of everything
There isnt a folder for hyperlaunch...

Yes I remember now, he probably used the old Hyperlaunch then. 

You would be better off doing a separate install and then copy over the artwork.

OK, i've spent the evening following this guide.

I've deleted the old folders and installed it the new versions.

 

So the mame wheel shows up with all the roms and artwork correctly but nothing starts when pressing enter. There is no lingering process in the task manager. Even after a fresh restart nothing starts from hyperspin MAME.

I can play games direct form MAME just fine 
Only problem i've had with following the guide is inside RocketLauncherUI.exe; when i double click on a new system, no windows opens.. So i've added a new system via the button (add a new system) and added this MAME2 system to the hyperspin wheel but still the same problem.

I would be very gratefull if anyone could push me in the right direction

When you ran RocketLauncherUI did Mame appear in the left Pane? You should not need to add it in RLUI as long as you have it as a system in HyperSpin.

 

You will also need to use the Transition tool we talked about earlier.

what exactly is old version and new version?

 

 

Hyperspin 1.3 is not smart enough to distinguish between Hyperlaunch and Rocketlauncher.

 

 

 

  • HyperSpin 1.3 was never designed to work with other launchers, so it only looks for HyperLaunch.exe when you have Hyperlaunch enabled in HyperHQ. To counter this, the transition tool can update all your HyperSpin system inis so it will work with RocketLauncher.exe.

 

 

if you have Hyperspin 1.3 and Rocketlauncher 1

 

you need to run the transition tool,  skip to step 3-B

Use the Convert HyperSpin Only;  make sure you have version 1.3 selected from the drop down menu.

 

 

 

 

if you are using Hyperspin 1.4 and Rocketlauncher

 

You don't need the Transition tool,  all you need to do is make sure you update the (FULL) path to Rocketluancher in your Settings.ini

i have hyperspin 1.3.3 and rocketlauncher installed.

In the rocketui, mame appears as a system among all the others. 

 

I've tried to run the transition tool three times and it did not work.  

 

After closing hyperspin, i did see some error message about that i should try mame outside hyperspin or turning of/on fade or something. It went away quick and i only saw it once,

You need to post some logs etc. The HyperSpin Log, the RocketLauncher log if you have tried to run it and the HyperSpin settings.ini found in HyperSpin\settings folder

Sorry could you also post the Mame.ini which can also be found in the settings folder. 

 

From the RL log it shows that Mame is not starting.

Hey all,

For sure the error is a common one.  Usually it means the emulator is not launching.  Part of RL is to detect that the emulator has launched before it moves on.  If the emulator is not launched, the script will error out.

 

For future, please use code tags when posting logs.  Posting logs without code tags will mess up the log and make the thread very difficult to read.

 

So, first things first.

Can you launch MAME outside HyperSpin and RocketLauncherUI?  And select the game and does it run??

If you can, that's half the battle.  ;)

 

The next step is to see if RL (RocketLauncher) is sending the correct CLI to launch the game.

In Windows 8 (I don't know of an eaiser way) while you are looking at your tiles screen, move your cursor to the top right until the "Charms Bar" slide out.  In the box under Apps, type run.  Click the Run icon to get a Run box.  Type cmd in the box and hit enter.

Paste this into the DOS box:

E:\emulators\MAME\mame.exe oedfight -nowindow -nohlsl_enable -video d3d -artwork_crop -nouse_bezels -use_overlays -use_backdrops -nouse_cpanels -nouse_marquees -rompath "E:\emulators\MAME\roms"

Hit enter.

Does MAME launch with the game?  Or do you get an error??

i have hyperspin 1.3.3 and rocketlauncher installed.

In the rocketui, mame appears as a system among all the others. 

 

I've tried to run the transition tool three times and it did not work.  

 

After closing hyperspin, i did see some error message about that i should try mame outside hyperspin or turning of/on fade or something. It went away quick and i only saw it once,

 

This is the transition tool error log, the last one. When i tried for the third time..

this is why I asked you to skip to step 3-B

 

you are doing a full transition,  trying to rename your Hyperlaunch to rocketlauncher.   You don't have  a Hyperlaunch3 folder to rename to Rocketlauncher.

 

 

You need to transition Hyperspin ONLY!!

Found the trouble. The rompath and romextension were not defined in the mame.ini.....

 

Mame is working again in hyperspin #yaaaay!

 

 

 

but i still do not get a new window when i double click on a system in rocketlauncherUI.
Only option i have is to use the button (edit database for your selected system in editor) What editor is best for this?

 

And how can  i fix that issue with the system window? Because now i want to add some pc games and more emulators

All new systems are added via HyperHQ as normal correct? And RLUI should pick them up, but you may need to run the transition tool again after adding new systems so that the ini's are changed.

 

if that is not the case please someone correct me.
