Hi i just end downloading the romset 168 to use with this... there is an oficcial database somewhere? I dont want to use a custom database because of all the artwork and files that depends on the database.

You do know that Mame has a fixed naming scheme? Every custom db found on these forums will adhere to that naming scheme. It is not like there are sets from no-intro or tosec which use different names.

 

The only thing that could happen between different romset versions is that Mame itselfs renames/adds/removes/combines certain roms which would also be reflected in the db for that particular version.

Sure, but i want to use the official database because i use the database with some scripts to batch apply settings to games based on the genre and i understand that the genre are modified in the hyperspin database comparing to the mame xml. its that right? Thats the reason i wait for the oficial database... also that way i eventualyi get the media named correctly from hyperbase.
