Hi just bought a mame arcade cab running on a Dell optiplex 780. Has 1000's of mame games running in hyperspin however I'm completely lost regarding adding more emulators and roms to hyperspin. If I go into the hyperspin setup I can change from a drop down list to genesis, ps 1 etc etc then when I boot up hyperspin it will show the relevant games on the wheel either with or without videos etc but none are selectable. Now when I go into my computer and open up hyperspin file then emulators it just says mame so I don't know if I have any other emulators or not.

Help would be appreciated guy

Thanks

You will be best served to learn hyperspin and rocket launcher from the ground up. Here's a popular video for beginners that should help you get started:

that's the problem with pre-configured Hyperspin setups... nobody knows whats on your computer. Your best bet is learning how to use Hyperspin and Rocket Launcher and possibly just doing a fresh install and just keep whatever ROMS and artwork you have already. I would suggest you look on the HARDDRIVE and find out what ROMS and emulators you have on there.

Yeah. Like they said even though you have a setup who knows how old it is, emus it's running, versions it's running etc...

Best to follow the setup guides/vids from the beginning.

I second all of the above. I am not necessarily against buying prebuilt stuff, but the problem is that you can't really use HyperSpin without learning HyperSpin. Buying prebuilt stuff means you skip the learning which always leads to disaster.

The link in my sig to Simple Austin tutorials (same ones posted in post #2) are a good way to go. The link in my sig is a playlist of many videos, in order, that can teach you all the basics.

other FRONT ENDS like (LOL) one that shall rename nameless but you basically just add whatever emulators and point to the rom folder and the most you have to know is the command line params and you're pretty much set.. dump your videos and screen shots in a folder... and point to them and you're good... HYPERSPIN ain't that simple....

I don't know whats on your HARDDRIVE (none of us do) there could be any number of things going on... just one example... the emulators could have been setup and the databases are still loading and the artwork still shows up but the ROMS and emulators are no longer on your harddrive.

If you're gonna stay with that setup.. you need to check the locations setup for the ROMS and Emulators and then go on your harddrive and take it from there.... run the emulators outside of Hyperspin (if they exist on your Harddrive) and then follow guides on how to get them working in Hyperspin.

If you try to run a game within hyperspin.. it should either launch or give an error message like ROM not found.... from what I know if a game just won't launch the problem can be solved by going into HyperHQ and or Rocket Launcher or HyperLauncherHQ...

We're not trying to make you feel bad for having a pre-configured hyperspin setup but you will save yourself a bunch of trouble by downloading Hyperspin and settng it up on your own (you should be set! because you should already have a Harddrive full of MEDIA)

Also I'm thinking that being that it was a CAB... the person that originally did the CAB only probably wanted it for MAME and ARCADE games so that could be why you're having problems... maybe they had it setup with other emulators but only sold it as a MAME CAB.

You could have edited that post into one post ;)

OK great thanks for advice guys!

To be honest I've been thinking that doing a fresh install of everything and going through tutorials is the way to go.

One last thing is there a pack for hyperspin regarding zx spectrum; it was my first love lol

Many thanks

Steve
