unrealcypher Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone has Kega Fusion setup with Sega CD. The problem I'm having is that KF won't detect my BT Virtual drive (note the drive itself works fine and is detected in almost every other CD based emulator such as Demul and SSF). I installed the Windows 10 SPTD as well because RL prompted me to. Doesn't matter what I do Kega won't see the BT drive which makes it so that it doesn't work in my HS/RL setup. All if not most of my games are in bin/cue format and note that I'm able to boot games successfully by loading an image* file and opening the .cue. Problem is that the fusion.ahk using the dt mount method so it doesn't work. Anyone have any experience or any work around? Greatly appreciated if so, thanks.!
unrealcypher Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 Well the thing is Rocket Launcher wants to mount the bin/cue, for this purpose I need DT. You may have downloaded ISOs which work just fine, but Rocket launcher doesn't simply open an ISO, I wish the fusion.ahk did this but it mounts the cue file so I need Fusion to actually see my virtual drive that currently has the cue mounted. I just updated to DT pro doing some testing, I think it has something to do with SPTD but I'm not too sure yet still looking for ideas.
Spawk Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Agent47 is right. Fusion does it's own mounting for Sega cd. No need for dtlite here. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
unrealcypher Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 That's strange because if I attempt to launch the game via Rocket Launcher, Rocket Launcher mounts the game via DT. So I think maybe I'm not explaining something properly here ; S sorry if this is the case. You can test this yourself, try to launch a Sega CD game through RL you see that RL prompts you to either update your SPTD(dt passthrough) or it mounts the image. I'm assuming it's being told to do this via the .ahk file but not sure. I mouunt cue files via BT and then Kega is supposed to see this virtual drive and simply load the game, problem is my Kega won't see any virtual drives and I can't get SCSI drives to work at all on W10. If you guys have sega cd working with RL/HS then I will gladly do it your way, thanks.
unrealcypher Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 Thanks Agent 47 your recommendation worked. I guess since all my games were in bin/cue I figured that I'd need to mount em but they work just fine without mounting, thanks again!!!!!
bulbousbeard Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 You shouldn't be using Kega Fusion in February 2016, by the way. Retroarch with Genesis Plus GX and CRT Royale is objectively better, and the beauty of it is that you don't even need to mount images to run them.
Spawk Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Many of us will NEVER use RA by the way. You dont mount in fusion either... that was the whole point of this thread. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
bulbousbeard Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Why won't you EVER use Retroarch? Why do I have the feeling I'm about to read some creepy, irrational, tribalistic bullcrap?
Spawk Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I just don't think you should be in here declaring RA the end all be all just because you like it. By all means, state what you like about it and why you use it, but don't imply that you shouldn't use anything else. Personally, RA doesnt do anything i can't do already. Fusion runs great and looks fantastic to me (ie: no crappy scanlines!). You like those scanlines? Good, use it but don't expect everybody to share your tastes. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

The real reason is that Genesis Plus GX has better audio emulation than Kega Fusion and Kega Fusion has input lag up the ass.
damageinc86 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I can see someone not using RA because it's just convoluted and unintuitive for the most part. They might not have the patience/the know how to navigate and properly utilize all that there is in there. Whereas, fusion just works. I personally moved as much as I could to RA because I just like having it consolidated. But that might not be the way for everyone. It would be nice if fusion got an update sometime in this decade though.
gigapig Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 The most important thing (other than being pleasant with each other ) is getting the games working as easily as possible, which Fusion does. All the other things are purely personal.
rastan Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 man... thanks to the thread for making me go back to my Fusion and figuring out why the CD never worked for me.. apparently in the settings a few things were set to D:\(full path) so I just had to open the .ini and change them to C:\(full path)
