Hyperspin stops accepting keyboard commands randomly

Hello,

I just completed a bartop cab build and am running Hyperspin 1.4 on it. I am having a few issues with HS... the main one is that HS seems to suddenly stop accepting commands randomly but fairly often. What happens is you will be moving through the wheels and menus and then suddenly everything just stop accepting commands. HS continues to run and the program itself does not show as (not responding.) The little animations at the bottom keep running and the video that is playing usually continues playing until the end of it.. then it just gives a black screen where the video was instead of restarting the video. I have tested it and it is not my keyboard or the minipac interface I am using because tasking out of HS works and both the keyboard and controls are being received by the PC.

I am not sure if this matters, but HS was setup on a different PC and then I copied it all over to this new one. Because HS doesn't seem to actually have an installation program (its just extracting it all into the folders) I didnt think this is a issue.

I hope someone can please help me with this.. I really need to get this running more smoothly so that I am not constantly having to fix things.

Thanks

Sounds like something else is taking focus from Hyperspin. What other things are also running in the background?

Nothing at all... My system is set to run hyperspin on startup and nothing else is running. Its a closed system so no anti virus, no firewalls, etc. it doesnt seem that something else is stealing focus because if it were, tasking to the desktop and back to HS would likely fix the issue. Once this problem occurs, there is no way that i have found to get HS to start accepting commands again.

I've seen it do that too. In fact, I couldn't even make a 2 minute video of Hyperspin without controls locking and acting weird. It's pretty embarrassing, really. All I can say is use a better frontend.

Perhaps we can help you sort out that weird control issue?

Could you help me sort out my issue?? That's what I was hoping for and still have it...

I made a little program that logs the currently active process and windows title every 20MS and logs if it changes. Check my signature. Download Tur-ActiveWindowLog and run it. You'll get a logfile that shows the currently active window. Let it run until you see the problem and then press the END key to quit the program. Check ActiveWindow.log when done.

Hopefully you can see what steals focus from HyperSpin.

There's also a HyperSpin control glitch I call "Dad spazz's out on the controls and breaks it" that acts a bit like what you describe.

It only happens when someone (in this case my dad) can't seem to help moving up & down quickly through menus while also mis-pressing buttons quickly and for no no reason except that he's a spazz.

Maybe that's it? You're using a cab/bartop and you're really not running anything else? No BAT or AHK scripts? Nothing to control your cabs volume at startup? No graphics card stuff? No control mapping software? Nothing?
