papsy Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Today i scan my computer with Prevx CSI. And here is the info. for this "virus" (The file was first seen by me Slovenia) http://info.prevx.com/aboutprogramtext.asp?ano=100000001&LICVERIFIER=F09762B6-6342-4F2C-949E-26D6B91262B3&Opt=C&AGENTPROFILE=CSIPLUS&MID=ac0deeb99eed6e0de687ff4924a19746d8c77841f9b57fef79f63fc7660c26e0&CMD=appinfo&PX5=F7DB1846AAA85598265303D06B1CA6009B803FF8&LIC=F09762B6-6342-4F2C-949E-26D6B91262B3&SFT=CSI&HN=jan-4a59b12f362
BadBoyBill Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 You better get that thing into quarantine!
papsy Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 I don't belive that this is a virus because i have dowloaded from megaupload
BadBoyBill Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Its not a virus, its a script for launching games, scripts are popular for making malicious software so your virus scanner sees this as bad since its a script. I wouldnt lose sleep over it.
Dazz Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Holy shit... My credit card number was posted online because of HyperLaunch.exe! Seriously though, Avira is reporting mine as good. Sounds like it is just a false negative by your scanner. I have never heard of that scanner before though, so I don't know anything about it.
Keyser_Soze Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Wouldn't surprise me though that as HS gains popularity, people start taking advantage of inexperienced torrent users. I have seen all kinds of unlikely named programs take on the hidden form of a virus or trojan. Bastiges should be lined up and forced to watch that Hanna Montana show until they die from overexposure to the terribly used and over abused laugh track. You no mess with the Lo Wang
Donovan Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 By looking at the picture, we can see the legend of "Free to cleanup" and "License required to cleanup." This is possibly one of those damn programs that claims you have viruses to get you to pay to "remove" them. Had a coworker at work do this once, older guy, believed the web browser pop-up when it told him he had viruses and better download the software to get rid of them...

I personally think Avira (free) is much better than any of the scanners that you can purchase.
BadBoyBill Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 lol, license required to delete hyperlaunch, you can just pay me instead. As long as you downloaded from a trusted source which is through this site, I can vouch that its not a virus.
cathaldub Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 AVG is the best free scanner i've used. Personally I dont run one at all http://emulation.4shared.com
alphaviper7 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Completed the following emulators on Hyperspin. Mame Nintendo Super Nintendo Nintendo 64 Sega Genesis Sega 32x Sega CD(WIP) Sega Model 2 NEO GEO Daphne(WIP) ZINC FUTURE Pinball MOVIES Jukebox CAPCOM3(CPS3) PC Gaming(WIP) 3 more working in progress emulators and that should finish my project and should be ready to load onto my two cabs I built my kids. Just so you aware so far, All of these games are boasting around 200 g of space on my hard drive and I only anticipate this to be even bigger so prepare yourself installing a 500 g or more hard drive if you think of installing of the emulators and roms...good luck Of course you have any questions, I will be there to help as all of you have been there to help me. Thanks guys.
trutech Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I downloaded HS via the torrent and again via the direct link from this site, and AVG see's 'Trojan- dropper' in both files on the HS executables. I thought maybe the torrent was tainted, so I tried the direct DL. Same issue with both.
Jay Ace Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 well the "issue" is with the AV program giving false-positives. if you downloaded it from this site just add it to the exceptions list and play some games!

I thought maybe the torrent was tainted, so I tried the direct DL. Same issue with both. If you downloaded a HS torrent then you fully deserve whatever viruses it gives you. We can't say that the torrent files are clean. However, if you download from this site directly then all is well. We've tested the files and AVG is returning a false positive.
Kodiak Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 This is probably because of UPX compression being used on the resulting executable...try compiling the script without compression and see if you get a false positive then. The same bullshit happens with AutoIt...however I thought all this crap was sorted out 5 years ago...my best guess is that they hired a new dumbass who didn't confer with the old dogs. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic.
marnurius Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 So everyone here is saying this problem is okay. My Norton says it is a trojan and won't let me put it on the machine. It deletes the hyperspin.exe everytime. I guess I don't trust most things. Will put it on an older machine without anything important on it. You should still be able to submit this problem to them (Norton) and have them clear it of their list. It would make it grow quicker because stuff like this can scare people of your program.
BiLbOBaggins Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 you have a virus? PLEASE LEAVE THE FORUMS NOW!! on a more serious note, this is a false positive.
Styphelus Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Wait until you start setting up TTX. Every single game is a virus!
brolly Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 For Norton pretty much everything is considered a virus.
nathan1974au Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 You better get that thing into quarantine! Rotflmao! (Midlife crisis) some have hot rods, some have gold chains, I have arcade machine with hyperspin.
