jmsiefer Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Hey Guys, I apologize for the request, but I'm just not able to get HyperSpin up and running / playing nicely with RocketLauncher. After reading a series of forums, I found that I had to update my .Net Framework, as well as a series of other headaches. Long story short, here is what happened- 1) Found series of 3x HyperSpin Torrents and extracted their content to my desktop (which took FOREVER): + Hyperspin Project - The Frontend + Hyperspin Project - Emulators + Hyperspin Project - Arcade System Games 2) Downloaded version 1.33 of HyperSpin. Extracted to a folder named "HyperSpin," wherafter I updated by overwriting with the 1.4 Upgrade - I then created a folder inside of it called "Emulators" and copied over the emulators (extracting those that needed to be). - Created folder called "Roms" and placed inside directory (separated out by emulator) 3) Launched HyperHQ, and selected Wheel Settings tab. Selected MAME and used the following settings: Execution: Hyperlaunch PC Game: Disabled Executable: <Pathway to MAME.exe> Rom Path: <Pathway to MAME Roms> Params: <blank> Use Full Path To Roms: Enabled Extensions: zip Search Subfolders: Enabled WinState: HIdden 4) Ran HyperSpin -Everything looked great. Videos were playing, etc. Selected a game, and hit Enter. NOTHING HAPPENED. FELT SAD. ATE A SANDWICH. 5) Decided that maybe I needed RocketLauncher for it to work correctly. Downloaded most recent version of RocketLauncher and extracted to a new folder on my Desktop Went into Hyperspin\Settings\Settings.ini Changed line to: Hyperlaunch_Path=C:\Users\admin\Desktop\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe Saved and closed 6) Opened up RocketLauncher UI On General Settings tab changed Base Settings to: HyperSpin Went to Emulators tab and scrolled down to MAME - saw a red exclamation mark next to it Double clicked on it, and changed the emulator path to: ...\Hyperspin\Emulators\MAME\mame.exe 7) Relaunched Hyperspin. Went back into MAME and hit enter on a game I knew I had for sure (Shinobi). NOTHING HAPPENED. FELT SAD. ATE ANOTHER SANDWICH. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Do I even need RocketLauncher? I would prefer not to, only because it's just another layer for things to potentially go wrong at the moment. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Excited to get this guy up and running. -Josh
Spawk Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Welcome to HS! Have some sandwiches on standby at all times!!! LOL. I will let Agent47 address most of it but I will say that IMO RL is an absolute must! And that torrent is very very badly outdated. Your workflow should go something like this: 1) make sure games load and play fine in the emulators first. 2) make sure they load, exit and play fine from RocketLauncherUI. 3) only when the first two are done should you try HS. Good luck. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
Metalzoic Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 If you're just getting everything setup for the first time then I'd say you definitely want to use RocketLauncher. HyperLaunch it the old version that isn't supported anymore. Much easier to do it now from scratch than try to convert to it later
