DieCubsDie Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I know what you're thinking; "he's got the rom named wrong". But I don't. I even went as far as to copy from the xml and paste it into my rom name. For whatever reason, there are a couple of games on dreamcast that won't show up in my games wheel. So far I've noticed that Skies of Arcadia and Street Fighter III - 3rd Strike aren't showing up. The version I found of skies was a 2 disk so i copied the xml code and made it 2 disks in there. Here's where it gets weird, the disc 2 version shows up in my wheel, but not disc 1. Street Fighter doesn't show up at all. Here's the xml code that I'm using: <game name="Street Fighter III - 3rd Strike (USA)" index="" image=""> <description>Street Fighter III - 3rd Strike</description> <cloneof></cloneof> <crc></crc> <manufacturer>Capcom</manufacturer> <year>2000</year> <genre>Fighter</genre> <rating>ESRB - T (Teen)</rating> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="Skies of Arcadia (Disc 1) (USA)" index="" image=""> <description>Skies of Arcadia (Disc 1)</description> <cloneof></cloneof> <crc></crc> <manufacturer>Sega</manufacturer> <year>2000</year> <genre>Role-Playing</genre> <rating>ESRB - T (Teen)</rating> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> <game name="Skies of Arcadia (Disc 2) (USA)" index="" image=""> <description>Skies of Arcadia (Disc 2)</description> <cloneof></cloneof> <crc></crc> <manufacturer>Sega</manufacturer> <year>2000</year> <genre>Role-Playing</genre> <rating>ESRB - T (Teen)</rating> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> Can anybody see anything wrong? Also, the only thing I have checked in HyperHQ is roms only. And just to be sure I had the correctly named rom, I did a check in Hyperlaunch system audit and it says that I have it.
Jay Ace Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I could be way off but I think there is an option to only show games with wheel images? So, maybe if the image is missing, the game is not showing up?
Deadly Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I just checked my setup that utilizes the hyperlist supplied xml. Skies of Arcadia is a 2 disk set and shows up accordingly. Street Fighter III - 3rd Strike (USA) is also on the list. I would rename your database and download a new one. Even if the game itself or artwork is named incorrectly, the GAME NAME TEXT itself would still show up on the wheel.
32assassin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 what version of Hyperlaunch are you using? Skies of Arcadia (Disc 1) (USA) Skies of Arcadia (Disc 2) (USA) is the naming format for Hyperlaunch 1 even hyperluanch 2.x uses this format with the DIC # at the end Skies of Arcadia (USA) (Disc 1) hyperspin is also case sensitive, if its named correctly and you don't have any game filters on then it should show up regardless of the naming convention. update all your XMLs from hyperlist and rename all your roms to match the new naming method.
DieCubsDie Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 I am using the newest version of hyperlaunch which I downloaded about 3 months ago. I thought I was using the newest xml, but perhaps that's not the case. I checked the file and all of the games in it that have more than one disc are named with the disc # before the nationality. I'll try downloading a new xml and see if that works.
DieCubsDie Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Okay, so I downloaded a new xml and I have no idea where I got the other one from. So anyway, I opened up the xml and directly copy and pasted from the xml to the rom so I would have no mistakes. Still not working. This is killing me, I just can't figure it out. I double checked which options I had checked in hyperhq and the only ones checked are roms only.
DieCubsDie Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Okay, I think I figured out the problem. I noticed that when I uncheck roms only I get all games showing up in the xml whether I have them or not, as it should be. But for whatever reason, when I check roms only, it only shows the games that i have wheel art for. I thought that when you check roms only that it only showed the games you have regardless of whether you have wheel art (which is what the wheel art only option is for). Could something be screwed up somewhere, and if so, where could I fix it?
32assassin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I don't know why I did not remember this but their is a glitch with CD based systems and rom filtering if you have all your ISOs or Bin-CUE files in sub folders. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?23296-Roms-Only-subfolder&highlight=filter as I mentioned in the other tread, I personally use the wheels only option on all my CD based systems. The only draw back is that you have to remove all the unused wheels from the art folder.
floatingyeti Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 when you list extensions in hyper hq its case sensitive and sometimes your rom extensions will be upper and lower case. try putting all possibilities in (7z,7Z,gdi,GDI,cue,CUE,cdi,CDI,chd,CHD,bin,BIN,nrg,NRG) and then see what happens.
DieCubsDie Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 floatingyeti, if it's all right with you, I'm going to tell people that you fight bears for a living. It's the coolest thing I can think of. I will tell tales of your compassion and intellect. That was it. I hadn't even thought to check the file extension, nor did I even know that case sensitivity is something to look for. Now I'm starting to wonder how many other of my roms have this problem without me realizing it........
