steshell Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I'm on the verge of giving up trying to get Zinc to work through Hyperspin but I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Games work fine through Aldo's Front End and any other front end I've tried but I can't get them to run through HyperLaunch HQ or HyperSpin I'm using djvj's ahk 2.0.2 and if I try to run Cool Boarders Arcade Jam from the games tab in HyperLaunch HQ I get the following message:- "Cannot find Rom "67" in any Rom_Paths provided: "I:\Games\Zinc" with any provided Rom_Extension: "zip"" The Rom path is correct and roms are named not numbered. Any help will be greatfully appreciated Steve
AYOOOB Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 You should number the roms based on the XML File or to change the roms name in XML based on your roms name The rom name should be the exact same name of the XML file , that's how it works
steshell Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Thanks or the reply AYOOOB, the penny's finally dropped!!. Renamed the rom names in the xml to the same as my actual roms and everything's sweet. On to the next system. Steve
tattoopete84 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 All of the Zinc games exist in the MAME rom_path, right? If so, then I don't see why people keep a 2nd copy of these roms just for Zinc. Wouldn't you just need an XML file for Zinc with the filenames listed just like mame games are named? And point your Zinc rom_path to your MAME rom folder? It's too much work to look through mame's rom_path to find the proper names of a couple zinc games. Does anyone have a copy of their ZINC.xml with "Mame style naming" for their filenames??? Polemicist Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 The Zinc ROMs really don't take up that much space and as you update MAME you may cause yourself grief with a set that doesn't have to change. That's why most dudes I know keep that one separate.
jgruessing68 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 djvj states in the zinc module 2.0.2 that "your database should contain short proper rom names not numbers". But when I update the database with Hypersync Cloud, the database is updated to a xml file that contains the numbers!!! Trying to run at this point results in an error that says: "Your romName is <digit>. It is not one of the supported ROMS." If I then overwrite this with HyperROM2XML so that it contains the names as the script indicates, the module works fine. Every zinc game opens without error from HyperLaunch and HS. Yes, I have the fake roms path set up and it contains the fake zips of all of the digits 1-71, i.e. 1.zip through 71.zip. HyperLaunch shows all green when you do a game audit. So, I think I've set this up correctly from what I've read. Does the Zinc database need to be updated in the repository, or is there something that I need to update to get the latest database when I run the sync utility? Is the sync utility smart enough to recognize different versions of the databases? If so, that's cool... I just need help understanding how that works if it's not a simple CM issue. Thanks in advance!
32assassin Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 the zinc module has been updated, you need a new updated XML in order to make this work. if you are using Zinc module 2.0.2 follow this steps 1. you no longer need the fake zip files folders. 2. keep your roms named with their correct name not the number system. 3. updated your XML found here -->http://pastebin.com/JZxZfgU6 4. the wheels, themes and videos are outdated in hyperbase you need to rename what you have manually or wait till someone updates hyperbase http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?29456-Zinc-artwork-match-new-database

I've tried all the other methods, read many posts, checked and rechecked everything up and down... Nothing would work. I spent a good half day on this, and it was as simple as that. Thank you very much!
