Hello,

I have attempted to find a tutorial that would walk me thru the installation and configuration of this system, i think i got it right but it does not work?

in game i should be able to hit tab>sliders and be able to see the available screen settings, its not there.

i have created a mame.ini file and placed it in the mame folder, nothing. the display looks the same

i have moved it to the mame>ini folder, nothing.  the display looks the same

In the rocket launcherUI I have set the global>emulators>MAME path and i do not have an "!" before the emulator mame name

in the rocket launcherUI i have set the global>Modules>mame>Globalsettings editor I have set;

settings>HSLS to INI (i have also tried true and have also tried GLSL to false and global)

same with the settings for the MAME.ahk settings all set to to true for the HLSL and i cannot get this to run.

i am a bit lost now please help me with this thanks a mil

Well let's start with the basics... what version of MAME are you using? Also, do you have any other ini files in the ini folder besides gui.ini and mame.ini?

i have tested all the above with mame0175b_64bit and mameuifx64_0175. I have running systems of both and have been going back and forth between them in the testing process.

In the emulators>mame folder all i have is the mame.ini in it.

A fresh install of MAMEUIFX 175 should have also had ini's for Vector, Raster and a couple others. Did you delete the others or did you just dump the mameuifx.exe into another mame's folder?

You mention RLauncher settings, but didn't say anything about how you have your MAME settings. Skip HS/RL and get it working in MAME first.

Maybe because often what you download from here is just the exe altered for no-nag. They expect you to go get the rest from the actual mameuifx site.

Oh whoever re-posted it must have left them out. I just grab mine from the actual mameuifx site when I update so I'm sure I've got everything.

yes they were there but I removed them because I read in the emulator information that ini's that reside in that folder will override the mame.ini settings. if that is not true i will place the other ini files back in the folder and retry again tomorrow. they were in a folder called presets. i have tested the system with the mame.ini inside that folder and outside as well.

OK, just making sure you actually have the correct 175 folder structure and files.

So how do you have all your options set in MAME itself for HLSL? If I remember right you need to switch it to Direct3D, maintain aspect, then you can turn HLSL on. You can change the HLSL shader in the HLSL section of the ini (if you don't want to use the default one that is). The stock ini doesn't have any HLSL settings in it if I remember right, I'd recommend trying the Jezze's default settings in the HLSL.ini that come with the download. They're pretty good. You can just copy paste those into your mame.ini to start.

Regardless, you want to get it set up in Mame and see if you can get it working outside RL/HS first.

not sure how to do that, i have been using the rocketlauncherUI>games>systemaudit>(rocket icon) to test the roms

I have inserted Jezze's settigns in my mame.ini and i have also placed them in my raster.ini without being noticeably different.

i have attached the mame.ini (now txt) to this post

mame.txt

Not sure how much of a difference it makes but the ini path from your mame ini is wrong and should just say ini.

And maybe it's a good idea to set video to d3d.

# OSD VIDEO OPTIONS

Video d3d.

Do you have an hlsl folder with files in it?

Are you saying you never set Mame up to begin with? That's the first thing that should have been done. You always need to set up the emulator itself (in this case Mame), set all it's option correctly and make sure it all works and plays games properly before you set it up in RocketLauncher. Running games through RLauncher or HyperSpin is the last step.

Setup Mameuifx first, get all the Mameuifx options for HLSL and everything else turned on and set how you want in Mame first, then once it works outside of RL/HS go ahead and set it up in RocketLauncher.

ok yes, mame is setup - the rom location is updated and mame "see's" all the files in that location. I can select a rom and run it from that location.

i have adjusted the mame.ini Video d3d settings

i haev tried the settings in the raster.ini and have the same results

in the mameuifx64 control

options>default game options>advanced>effect

i can select shadow-mask as a global options for all roms and it will work on the game but the other settings are not coming thru and being applied from the mame.ini file

Maybe it would help if one of us just packaged up our MAME/UIFX and sent you a link to download it.

If none of the other guys get to it first, I'll do it later tonight.

Last time I tried MAMEUIFX changes to video enhancements didn't save anywhere, I had to open a game first  and make changes to see them, which is awful. that's why i ended up changing to the vanilla MAME, with good hlsl settings it looks awesome, don't feel the need to add more bells and whistles.

MAMEUIFX didn't work for me, try using the default MAME.

If you mean making changes to the sliders in the options while in-game didn't save, then that's normal. Just how it works.

Changes input manually into the various ini's should definitely save and show though. So long as another ini higher up the pecking order isn't intercepting it first.

Just a shot in the dark if you continue to have issues... best to make sure you have all the proper directX runtimes installed. Here's a link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109

And a video card that can run D3D.

There was somebody on here once who's graphics card couldn't make HLSL work. Don't remember what he had though.

What the hell did he have a shoe box, elastic bands and some sellotape?
