MAME 0.176 to 0.177 chd updates ?

Dumb Question:

 

I'm currently on 0.175 and yes I know the place to get the updates. But what is involved in updating? Do you just dl the update, merge the roms and update the database?

 

Dumb Question 2: 

 

How  are you all going about separating the Mame Games into genre's. I just saw this the other day and really thought that would be quite handy. Then I could omit the Japanese XXX and mahjong games.

To update from PD point the new torrent at your rom/chd folder, it will go through it to check what you already have, then it will download and overwrite changes/missing files. done.

To weed out the stuff you don't want you could use Pulsoffs official databases from here which already have most stuff filtered already. To fine tune it more use Dons Tools.
