Taito Type-X - Contra Evolution

Hi Guys,

 

I managed to get a copy of Contra onto my cabinet but - unlike many other titles - I cant get this to exit cleanly from Rocket Launcher - it drops out but leaves the .exe running in the background. Has anyone got this working cleanly?

just added this to my HS.... after reading your post I searched for it and found it. 

 

I just tried to exit from RL and it didn't exit clean.. got an error. I set the wait for the .exe that launches the game.. not sure if that's the problem but will be playing with it.

 

try exit method... process close AppWaitExe, worked for me.

 

Does anyone have Media for this game? wheel or theme? if not I'll just make me a wheel the usual way by ripping some graphics from google images and editing them.

use the search function,  in your PC launcher INI file the Exit Method and Fade Tittle needs to be defined.

 

mine is set to

[Contra - Evolution Revolution]
ExitMethod=Process Close Application
FadeTitle=AMCONTRA ahk_class AMCONTRA
Application= J:\Roms\Taito Type X\Games\Contra - Evolution Revolution\AMContra.exe

Taito Type X/X2 is a must have (in my opinion) if you're doing Arcades as they offer some more recent era games. 

 

Google or Youtube Taito Type X/X2

 

I run Type X games with no problems on my i3 and some Type X2 games perfectly however a more beefy system is probably needed for Type X2 games.

I've been trying to setup taito and been STRUGGLING

I'm having serious issues on Windows 10, I have a "loader.exe has stopped working" every time I launch, been working with Giga to try to figure out what's going on

Im still on Windows 7 - no issues with the TypeX games. Must be a windows 10 thing I suppose - which is a shame as the TypeX games are really good generally.

The taito config tool only works on some games, the giga Xbox 360 bind control file doesn't really work either.

I have just run the game and it seems fine in Windows 10.

 

Contra's keyboard controls are hard coded and you will need a keymapper to control it (see list below.)

If you use an Xbox 360 controller then you can use that without any configuring, but if I remember correctly there is a problem with the 2nd player xbox controls.

P1 Controls:
WSAD: Movement
J: Shoot
K: Jump
U: Change weapon
Enter: Start

P2 Controls:
Arrows: Movement
Numpad1: Shoot
Numpad2: Jump
Numpad2: Change weapon
NumpadEnter: Start

Other Controls:
Space: Coin
Escape: Exit game
O: Step one frame forward (press P to resume)
P: Pause/Resume
F5: Complete current stage
F: Advance forward (if player at left edge of screen, will kill them)
X: Shakes background, unknown purpose
N: Change difficulty settings (use LCtrl and LAlt to adjust)
M: Kill Player 1 (lose 1 life)
Numpad9: Kill Player 2 (lose 1 life)
F8: Slow-motion
F11: Save game data during play
F12: Unknown, but screen goes black and sometimes crashes

The only thing I can't get to work is the coin on the 360.

I think I'll save myself the frustration and leave those 3 games I got to actually work on the desktop....as rocketlauncher keeps minimizing the screen on me roughly 11 seconds after launching and kicks me out of the game.

I like these games they look great but there's something going on...I just picked up my friends Windows 7 computer so I'll test them out on his.

Were you able to add contra to your RL XML Giga?

Try running them windowed to see if they still minimize. I had to mess with the game loader config for some games. I have a few running windowed with a black png as the bezel. Only way they would work fir me since i updated from hyperlaunch.
