bigmike2238 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Hi Guys, I 've been working hard on getting hyperspin setup just the way I want it, and I have a quick question. Is Gamecube emulation at an acceptable level? I remember trying about a year ago and the sound and graphics were choppy. What I'm getting at is, will I be able to play more than a handful of games successfully? Thanks to all that reply, Mike

SkyHighGam3r Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Hard to give you an answer reflective of your exact situation without seeing your specs. There's lots of builds of the Dolphin emulator, and one in particular (ishiiruka or something) that gives great speed on lower end PC's.I have a pretty beefy system, but the emulator runs amazing for me. The only games I can think of where I've had any problems at all are the Rogue Squadron titles, but that seems to be a running theme with anything Factor 5 has developed.I'm running it all in 720p with some scanlines and it Super Mario Sunshine looks AMAZING. The colors are vibrant, and it's great to actually feel like the island is dark during the start of the game. I never got that feel playing on my old 13" CRT.
Tomkun Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 The Dolphin team have made so many improvements in terms of speed and accuracy in the last year, that I would say Gamecube is certainly worth the effort. You should be able to get respectable framerates even on a fairly modest rig nowadays, even without any special builds.
Suhrvivor Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Every GameCube game works on the latest versions of dolphin, The accuracy of the emulation it's almost perfect at this point for most games, plus you can play at greater resolutions, add shaders, better textures and widescreen support. The current level of refinement and optimizations of the emulator makes it easier to run it at decent speed on modest hardware. The GameCube have a lot of great titles, should be in any HyperSpin setup.
phulshof Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 It's even working well in Linux; I'm growing quite fond of it. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
bigmike2238 Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 Sounds awesome guys. My PC is a decent gaming PC so it should be fine. Can't wait to try Dolphin again for myself. Mike
