BlueGoblin Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 By next week I will be upgrading my OS to Win7 64bit. Presently I am on XP 32bit with 3gb ram. I will add on a total of 8gb ram. (16gb ram is the max i can add but I think that would be overkill) Do you believe I will see a significant improvement in the Hyperspin system?
miamisurf Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Yep! Did it myself win 7 makes me smile Also 3rd party apps seem enhanced / USB devises now run smooth as silk
gigapig Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Yes! XP is dead, long live Hyperspin And yes 16GB Is overkill.
showstopper Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Changing O/S wont really affect HS - what CPU do you have? How to update HyperLaunch
mmg1design Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 When I went from 4gb to 8gb ram, I noticed that it positively affected the hyperspin wheel motion in mame. I can now hold down the joystick and it spins very smooth without the jerky motion it had before. Good luck with you upgrade.
BlueGoblin Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 I just upgrade the machine to (win7 64bit). I will have a total of 10gb ram (2gb ram on one slot and 8gb on the other)

keltoigael Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Your bios should automatically down clock any mismatched ram speed. Lowest always a priority over the larger so that they match. If they are the same speed, it doesn't matter if you have 32 gigs in one and 8 in another. Modern boards are made to handle this now. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGAi8dJWR4bpg1oRfItcPCw
Jonnykool Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 From what I understand HS is processor heavy and adding loads of RAM wont make huge differences. Surely you should make sure your RAM runs in parallel matched pairs?
