Darkblaze Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Hi Team, Currently right now there is 122 games in the Official Database list with Media (Wheels and Box Art but no CD). My database collection has 321 games so I decided to create the media collection while respecting Avar standardization process. The main issue I have is that some boxes are cracked or because of being too old have changed colored, others are taken of auctions site so the quality is not the best which I then need to edit or play with the saturation to get it closer to the original artwork so that so every art has the same quality theme but it ain't easy. I still wanted to share what I'm currently working on so that we are not doing the work twice but at the same time to get your feedback and maybe some best practices. Any suggestions for Wheel Arts would be great as that is the piece I struggle the most. A III. (A Train 3) as an example, the A is very large which if I downscale will crunch the logo. YS 1& 2 and Wanderers 3, should I tampered with the logo and overlay the text on top of YS? I try to keep the Wheel art exact then the one on the Box art itself but I presume we have to tampered so that it fits in the Wheel. You will notice word docs which is what I'm using for missing files (since I don't want to create "fake" art). I'm still trying to find those on the net. Screenshot 4 is to show what type of images I'm using to create the Box and Wheel Art. I will be posting each title in a seperate post down below and will include the CD only at the end since I still need to work on those. Let me know you feedback. I'm still learning and before the set is complete, I have a long way to go.
thatman84 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Cool ypur giving this system some love. Best way to get feedback and tips on the artwork is to post individual posts with an art piece as you work on it. I knkw kts a slower process but its the "best" way. Post up a disc or box or wheel your working on for others to comment. As its a complete thread maybe post the box/cd and wheel in each post. Good luck with your project. Should I continue to post my individual artwork in this post or should I create a new one in HyperStudio/Artwork and Sound?

Darkblaze Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 CD - Should I remove the shadow from the original image? Wheel: Taken from another website and upscale 3D Box:
Darkblaze Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 Should the middle of the media be left white or should it be transparent?
Kondorito Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I would remove the shadows (outside and inside circle) as it currently gives a lot of noise to the images if they are not above a white background. I would also reduce the opacity of the inner radial plastic, so it looks translucent. Quick mock-up below using one of your images. Placed it over two different backgrounds, so you can see the translucence:

Darkblaze Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 In regards to Wheels, Like example A Train 3, would you leave the height as is or crunch it?
Darkblaze Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 The Wheel art logo might seem different but actually what is weird is that the logo is different from the Front and Back of the CD Box, I use the Back Art to create the logo.
Darkblaze Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 I`m very hesitant about the Zero4 Champ, the logo came out ugly as the quality image I had was horrible, I will try to improve it.
