jeepguy81 Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Welcome to the world of flash animation EvilD!! You'll never go back lol. btw, make sure the timming delay is set to "0" for whichever special artwork you replace it with, otherwise it can interrupt the animation. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
EvilDindon Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 Hehe it's was quite simple, with bodydump's tutorials. Where do I set the "timming delay" to 0 ? In Adobe Flash or in the theme xml ? I think I've found how I will fill the empty space on the right side of the screen : I want to make a lil' flash movie, for each game, that tells if the game has to be played either with the 4 or 8 way joystick or spiner, and the number of buttons. (and maybe the use of each button, foer ex : "jump", "fire", "bomb", etc... This flash movie could be set as artwork 1. If I manage to do that, I'll have a "professional looking" frontend for sure, but this represents a certain amount of work for sure, as I'm not yet really familiar with flash. EvilDindon Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 PS : Jeepguy, I'm not quite satisfied with my metal video border. Could you try to do one for me, with the same cristal crisp metal looking as your wheel images borders ? I think I can't do that in PSP X2. "Dindon" means "Turkey" in french.
jeepguy81 Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 In HyperHQ you can change the settings for the special artwork,....wait, unless you have that as one of your artwork layer, i just thought of that. If it is then negate what i said lol. Vid border - i'll throw one together for ya Some of the artwork out there includes allot of instruction cards that were on the game bezels, you could use those for your idea. Granted some that i've found are either so low quality it's impossible to read, a few in my themes i've had to re-create the best I could. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project

Actually, on Mr Do's arcade site, there's a lot of hi res artwork. I think we could find there a lot of stuff for our themes. The press start and free play animation will be a special artwork, yes. So I'll configure them to "timing 0" in HQ, that's it ? "Dindon" means "Turkey" in french.
EvilDindon Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 Frogger Theme. Changed the arrows. "Dindon" means "Turkey" in french.
Secret80'sMan Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Nice work man, very cool stuff indeed!

EvilDindon Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 Here-s a small update with the ultraclean video border made by jeepguy : "Dindon" means "Turkey" in french.
EvilDindon Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Dudes I stopped this project, thinking about all the useless efforts it would need to make those tweaked vertical themes working on HS 1.1, while HS 2.0 (that will come out soon I hope) will have native vertical support. "Dindon" means "Turkey" in french.
Secret80'sMan Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I was gonna suggest you put a VERTICAL CABINET EDITION seal on the right or similar VERTICAL announcement on the right where you had that space but if you bagged the project due to HS 2.0 it's understandable. Definitely keep the files, you never know when a need might arise and you have an aha moment of, "I know exactly what I can use that stuff for!" Is there a projected release for 2.0? I thought I had heard Summer at one point but I could be mistaken.
EvilDindon Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Actually I want to fill the empty space on the right with a.png or maybe a .swf showing the controls needed for the selected game (for example 4way joy, 8way joy+1 button, trackall, etc.) I wonder if I can take advantage of the controls.dat file to let HS display automatically the exact controls per game ? Or will I have to do it manually, including the swf in each theme as an artwork ? Yeah I defintiley kept all the files, just waiting for HS2.0 to come out. And no, I don't know when HS 2.0 will be out. Summer is far "Dindon" means "Turkey" in french.
bill55 Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 How close to being done was this theme? I would LOVE this on my arcade monitor vertical setup! Been trying to run the cocktail theme and it looks ok. It was really made for higher res screens though. This looks like it would be better for lo res displays. Great work! Actually they are not ready yet, because I wanted to wait for HS 2.0 to come out. But I think I'll try something until it come sout, cause it can take some time again. bill55 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 If you get it ready for testing please let me know. I made my dedicated pacman into a vertical mame setup. 19" vertical 15KHz monitor. I would love to try this theme out in there! Bill My Pinball Build: Indiana Jones and the Pinball Crusade

Bill Yeah sure, I made a 70% scale pacman replica too, with a 14 inch scart/rgb TV mounted vertically Can't wait to have HS running on it, cause mala is not bad, but it surely looks not as "pro" as HS. Here is the topic of the built, in french : http://www.gamoover.net/Forums/index.php?topic=22339.208 "Dindon" means "Turkey" in french.
bill55 Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Looks awesome! I'll have to take some pics my my cab running HS and MAME. I know this is off-topic...any way I could get that front end you are using in yours just to see how it looks in mine compared to the HS high res theme? I know it's not nearly as pro as HS, but I'd like to see how it looks on screen in comparison. Would you be able to zip up the whole folder and put it on the ftp or something? I'd love to see you finish the HS low res theme. (hint hint) :-) Thanks! Bill My Pinball Build: Indiana Jones and the Pinball Crusade
