Trnzaddict Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Hey guys. I was just wondering how you guys are configuring these systems game pad wise. I never grew up with these systems but I want to experience them in my setup. Problem is well, Intellivision for example used overlays on the controllers over the keypads. I honestly don't know how to map each button without booting all 136 games and seeing what the controls are and mapping them to the 360 controllers common buttons because every overlay was different. The same thing with the Odyssey 2 I do not really know as the console had a crapload of buttons all over it. I am......Machine

rascaluk Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I had an Intellivision as a kid and have recently rye ought one off eBay. The long and short of it is it's hard. The controller disc was 16 directional not 8 but the buttons you can generally pass off with a numpad on a keyboard but with a 360 I'm not sure how you would do it. Having said that many games only used a few buttons. Stuff like Pitfall and Astrosmash you could play easily. Let me know how you go. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Turranius Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Also had an intellivision and bought one again a year or so ago. My favorite game is and was "Dungeons and Dragons: Tresure of Tarmin" but it uses almost all keys so very hard to program my X-Arcade for it. I have to use both joysticks. I'm thinking of buying two numerical keyboards (just the numerical part) and using them as joystick extenders for just these systems. Not sure how though. One is no problem, but two? They both output the same keys. Mame related stuff: FTP: grandis.nu, port 21, user:misc, pass:misc http://grandis.nu/software Tur-Matcher - Match your roms/media/XML files. Trnzaddict Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Hey guys. Thankyou for all the responses. I'm glad I'm not alone with this one. Craig that's a good idea with mapping the keypad but it would feel extremely wonky with some games after looking over a bunch of intellivision overlay scans just now. But it won't hurt to try it out with some titles maybe it might be ok . Honestly the best thing for these 2 systems and any other systems that are pc consoles like the commodore stuff would be the chatpad, but the unofficial drivers look like they are a mess. OneBadVeggie Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 There were like a million different Intellivision Lives games that came out? How were those controls configured?
rascaluk Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 There was a dude in the states that sold an adapter that you could plug original intellivision controllers into. I can't remember his name but it basically made them USB. I think he only made 100 though and they are long gone. Knew I should have got one one I first saw 'em. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Trnzaddict Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 There were like a million different Intellivision Lives games that came out? How were those controls configured? Actually now that this has been brought up, I should check out the Resurrection Xtras Intellivision set for Xbox... Those guys configure all the games including the controls so all the games are true plug and play. I wonder how they did it...I'll see if I can get my hands on them sometime this week and wake my soft modded Xbox back up. I'll let you guys know... I am......Machine
