The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Trojans and Hyperspin

Hi,

I went to the trouble for registering to this site so that I could even try out "Hyperspin" 1.5.1 release - which greets me with the warning that there are many scams trying to sell hyperspin.

Saying during the download process "TURN OFF YOUR ANTIVIRUS IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE INSTALLING" when the antivirus is the bog standard Windows 10 Defender and it detects 2 trojans immediately upon extracting your program that are core executables is not a valid solution.

Sorry but I'm not going to trust some gaming website over windows defender, but you basically forced me to register to even find this out so I figured I should tell you about it.

the trojans it detects are:

Win32/Zpevdo.A in the HyperHQ.exe

and

Win32/Bluteal.B!rfn in the HyperTheme.exe

Sorry guys, but if you can't fix your program to even not turn up as a trojan I'm not going to run it, advising to turn off AV is not a solution, it's a workaround.

If you'd like more info or this gets fixed at some point and I dont read it you can @ me on twitter at @posty.

Edit: Extra funny thing to add, you don't need either of those programs for Hyperspin to run.. they are just used to make configuration easier for GUI favored people.

They are false positives !!!

if you had searched for the answer rather than opening a topic about it you would have seen that you must be about the 1,000,000th person to ask the same question.

Many files in the emulation world are flagged as viruses because either anti virus does not know what they are or makes a guess and quarantines/flags them as virus (especially on Windows 10)

If you think you know better (or in this case Windows Defender) then don't download it. do you think everyone else downloads Hyperspin,HyperHQ etc to our computers knowing they all have viruses ?

They are perfectly fine to use, but as I said download, don't download it doesn't matter to me ?

I'll add that both of these HS programs have been unchanged for a decade at least and only started being flagged by antivirus fairly recently. If they contain viruses, I've been infected for a decade.

Which is to say... they're not. Also, I would wager a vast majority of emulation fans have their emulator and rom folders excluded in their antivirus program because HyperSpin is far from alone in being flagged as a false positive. It goes with the territory.
