Led button installation

So I have a panel that is 1 inch think and I hope to get the gold leaf led buttons from ultimarc. The problem is the buttons are like .75 long so there is no way for me to secure the buttons. I’ve already got a panel with buttons on it. What tool do I use and how do I make an impression so that I can screw on an arcade button nut when there is already a button hole here. I’m currently using happ standard buttons and they fit fine. I’m pretty sure the led buttons are as long as the black plug here which is also a tad too short

your best bet is to remove all the buttons and the panel, take it to a wood shop and have the underside of the panel recessed to reduce the thickness of the panel around the buttons. You could do it yourself with a router if you can get your hands on one.

I did this to the underside of mine to suit the joysticks and trackball which needed less thickness to mount.

  1. no, i wouldnt worry about ruining the holes, it just takes material off the underside face, like the picture i attached, it just  munches the face off down to a preset depth. For the led buttons you want about 19mm (3/4"). My deck is 19mm and they fit just fine. (other pic is underside of the deck of my 2player machine) .Any wood shop should be able to do it for you if you cant borrow one from someone.

I used a dremel attachment that also achieves this, just in case you already happen to have one might be cheaper than a router to get your hands on.

Either way as mentioned above you shouldn't need to worry about messing it up, the worst you can do is make a bit of a messy cut where you cut in (can be avoided for the most part using the straight edge of a piece of wood to work as a guide (as shown in the pictures above)

Even if you made a slight mess it's the underside so you will never see it anyway so you will be the only one losing sleep over it :D

Where you at Ninja, if you are close enough I could do it for you.

That could be awesome. I don’t know for sure but the buttons may or may not allow for the nut to connect to the button length. This could be an option to route out the board. Really appreciate it you all
