The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Physical rotation of a monitor based on game selection

Hello All,

Been doing some research and I understand the hardware components involved,  but not the programming.   I am going to build a wall mount arcade that will have a flat screen that will rotate from horizontal to vertical and back .  I planned on doing this manually,  but I have seen where people have it automated.

The arcade will be for Mame predominately,  and hyperspin as a front end.   is there anything in the hyperspin that can be added (per game) like an initial trigger program/script when a game is selected to cause the screen to rotate (neema stepper motor or servo...not sure yet) to the correct orientation?

I have seen many videos of it being done,  but no one is showing how the code goes in and where.   Heck,  I am not even sure if hyperspin can do this..the tutorial section of this sight is down.

any thoughts, links and comments would be great.  Thanks!!!!!

I am planning on doing this sometime next year probably. Same conclusion as you, no solid info about the software trigger.

I believe its done by reading something from mame not hyperspin.

Good luck and I hope to see this thread updated with an answer! :)

THere is a video i saw once of someone going from a capcom fighting game to ms. Pacman.   The trigger seems to happen before the Mame load of the game.  Somewhere between "leaving the Hyperspin and entering the Mame.

I found the Video.   I am not sure what front end is used.

The rotation happens at a point where the Front end says "Get Ready To Play".   None of the comments in that vieo explain how he is putting the code in.  I understand the code and what will be needed,  just not sure where it will go in the setup.   I plan on using a Raspbery Pi,  but that might change.

Connersdad made one quite a few years ago, the thread is here.

There were scripts involved and much of the information was gathered at the Arcade controls forum I think.

you should ask in the Rocetlauncher forums if RL has this feature,

but you will need hardware (a controller) to do this.

you can do it with an LED Blinky supported controller such as the LED-WIZ

https://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=239

and the corresponding software LED blinky

https://www.ledblinky.net/ledblinky.htm

it would be a similar principle of loading custom button colors for each game,   you would just program one of the outputs to turn on( rotate monitor)

for all your vertical games.
