Newest Windows 10 update (20H2) breaks Hyperspin, Hyper Theme, & Hyper HQ

I have discovered that after updating to windows version 20H2, Hyperspin, HyperHQ, and HyperTheme no longer function. When you run them, they show up in task manager as Background processes, and consume on average 7% CPU, but never display. The only entry in the event viewer is:

But I am not sure if this message is caused by me Ending the task or not(I don't think so, because I ended the processes of HyperHQ, and HyperTheme but got no messages for them).

 

I have also tried this on two different computers, as well as Compatibility mode for windows XP, 7, and 8 as well as with administrator privileges.

Download this file and put it in your Root hyperspin folder where your hyperspin.exe is located worked for me

This version of Windows 10 also works fine with this sxs.dll file

Just put it in the same folder as Hyperspin.exe

Wait, it would help if the HyperSpin.exe wasn't as a background process still when trying the dll addition. Now it works as intended

Trying to use HyperSpin in 2021, when it’s development has ceased. There are way better working and actively developed front ends out there.

Why come on this forum bitching about Hyperspin ?

Anyone who thinks Hyperspin is no good in 2021, do one !!

If there are better frontends (in your opinion) like the snail paced Launchbox for example, then go and use it and stop trying to put other people off using Hyperspin !!

Even with Zero development, Hyperspin is better than any frontend, and I have Launchbox setup with 150,000 games on it (which is trash, because it is a slow as F***)

Hyperspin is smooth as silk when linked to RocketLauncher in comparison.

Your post would have more weight if it wasn’t in a thread detailing how HS is broken in the latest Windows update and hasn’t been fixed.

Launchbox isn’t the only other front end out there.

Everything breaks if it's on a PC.

It's not Hyperspin that broke, it was the Windows update that stopped Hyperspin working and they were looking for a fix until someone found it.

It works, so there is no longer an issue.

This has only happened 2 times in about 5 years, so it's not a major issue.

Too many people come on here to slag off Hyperspin, when there is no need.

If you don't like it then leave.

To this day I have tried them all, and I literally have every system, every game you can think of, and Hyperspin/RocketLauncher is still the best IMO !!

Launchbox for example is just style over substance, it's literally unusable.

It’s firmly HS that is the issue here. It’s normal for apps to have to keep up with OS updates. Shame that HS doesn’t see that.

Thousands of apps go down after every major window around the world, that's normal.

When it broke, they looked to fix it, until a solution arrived.

It is broken!! The “fixes” they find are simply workarounds because no one is actively working on the code, and haven’t for sometime. Yet they continue to extract money from people for something that is fundamentally broken.

I’m all for “agreeing to disagree” but this isn’t politics at this point. It’s just simple facts.

There is no need to while it's working.

I am just a use who paid my money like everyone else, but facts are facts, it's the best frontend regardless of nobody touching it for years.

If you want lights and special effects use Launchbox, if you want to play a game sometime this week (as it tries to load up) then stick with Hyperspin.

Check the title of this thread. It is literally reporting on critical show stopping bug with HS.

It simply is not the best front end. Especially given that it is implemented using flash, which is now discontinued. There are way better options out there, and there is world past launchbox.

It’s criminal at this point that the HS admins keep pulling in money from people for something that is outdated, broken and fundamentally flawed, whilst doing absolutely no active development.

In the first UK Covid-19 lockdown I saw a report of people in Equadore burying their family members and I vowed never to moan about anything again, which is hard being British.

This isn’t about which front end is best. It’s about peddling something, taking money and not actively developing it. Trouble is, no one sees that until they’ve given their money over.
