floatingyeti Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Upload Here Yes, this is a clone of the SG-1000 released in Japan and Taiwan but I'm focusing on the Aaronix version of the SG-1000 II which had a different game library. The Taiwan region SG-1000 games released for the Aaronix SG-1000 II have many (unoffical?) MSX ports unique to that region. Other games are based off different versions the roms on the Japan region releases. So there are at least subtle differences in most of the Taiwan region games. Aaronix also released an 8kb Ram Adapter for MSX ports requiring 9k of RAM. Game that require 8kb adapter: Yingzi Chuanshuo (Legend of Kage) Yǔzhòu zhànshì (Star Soldier) Tanke Dazhan (Tank Battalion) Games that are enhanced by 8kb adapter: Da Cike (Yie Ar Kung-Fu II) Jinzita (King's Valley) Moyu Chuanqi (Knightmare) Shénqí Huāyuán (Pippols) Shuangxiang Pao (Twin Bee) Roms that have been modified to work without 8k adapter: Bomberman Special Roadfight Games that didn't fully work on SG-1000 II but fixed when run on MARK III: San-nin Mahjong Safari Hunting Note: Mame does not support 8kb adapter expansion and I couldn't find that option in other emulators. I was able to run all 8kb adapter compatible games through Mark III (backwards compatibility). Which makes sense because Aaronix also released a version of the Mark III and it has more than 8kb of ram. 8kb games are in “sg1000m3” folder so they run on Mark III. I have gone through MAME Software List and gathered every Taiwan region rom. I have used the Tawain names in the database. I tried to only use only the region-specific logos for the wheels. I created videos for nearly all the games to try and capture the subtle differences (title screens). So, is this as justifiable or have I wasted my time?
brudibru Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 You certainly didn't waste your time ! It is such a joy to discover those "exotic" systems.
