A while ago i changed the path of my in game config menu from tab button to player 1 button ,joystick down or so i thought. It seems the path i thought was correct is not and can no longer access the config menu.

so my question is how can i get back on track and access the in game config menu?

Why is it you can never find what your looking for when you need it!!!

Default.cfg in the cfg folder. You might be able to edit it or delete the file or back up first.

You can set more than one key for one function. I normally leave tab as the menu button and also have 2 key presses on my control panel.

Yeah I've had this happen too. Delete the default.cfg file and start MAME and just redo the controls.

I have to set my default.cfg to read only otherwise it get reset and I have to set the controls again.

If anyone knows why that happens, please let me know.

thanks alot it worked for me to Delete the default.cfg file and this time i maid sure i still have the tab key functional.

one other thing maybe someone might help me with... i made a cab and want to have the power on/off from a button on the cab some where.. how to you go about this? again tried searching but must be using the wrong keywords can't find anything of use. Is it possible to on/off through the usb joystick controller? or does one have to hack the original power switch/button?

oh if it helps i,m using an IBM thinkcentre.

You can just shutdown the cab with a shortcut same as normal. If your on about the actual power for the cab as in the mains. You can buy a extension cable you can fit in the cab. This enables around 4 plus to be plugged into it as a standard socket. However one of sockets will be a main and the rest slaves. Once the power is no longer used on the main it will cut the power to the others too.

So in other words when you power down the PC, it will power down the Monitor and anything else plugged into that too, giving a tidy power off :D

Or are you on about an actual power button? this can be ripped from an old PC case, make one yourself simple or purchased cheap as chips.

for example for the socket:

an example for a powerswitch:
