The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Playstation exits after choosing 'roms only'

PSX has a lot of roms, so I want to show only the roms that I have. So I checked 'roms only' in HyperHQ. When selecting a rom, Hyperspin quits back to desktop! the logfile states that there are no roms. There are. And I can start them through HyperLaunch from within HyperLaunchHQ. I am using ePSXe 1.90. The module is for 1.80, so I've tested that too, but with the same results.

Here's the log:

09:37:30 AM | HyperSpin Started

09:37:30 AM | Going windowed mode

09:37:30 AM | Checking for updates

09:37:30 AM | Update Check Complete

09:37:30 AM | Startup program unavailable

09:37:30 AM | Playing intro video

09:37:37 AM | Error intializing joysticks

09:37:37 AM | Menu Mode is multi

09:37:37 AM | Loading Main Menu.xml

09:37:37 AM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded

09:37:37 AM | Main Menu wheel loaded successfully

09:37:49 AM | Loading Sony PlayStation.xml

09:37:49 AM | roms_only is true, checking files

09:37:49 AM | Error: roms_only is true and there are no rom files for Sony PlayStation

09:37:49 AM | No roms found

09:37:49 AM | Loading Main Menu.xml

09:37:49 AM | Quiting Hyperspin

09:37:49 AM | Bye!

09:37:49 AM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded

Anyone encountered this before? Care to share how you've solved it?

You need to add the path to the Roms and the extension so Hyperspin knows where to look and what for.

I allready did that. Roms are starting through HyperLaunch. And also through Hyperspin. Only problem I am having is with the 'roms only' option.

So it should look like this if your Images are archived (zip or 7z)

If they are extracted and in separate folders then you might have a problem unless everything is in 1 folder. That being the case you would then use the "cue" extension.

Your other option is to create an xml based on the Rom you have, using Hypertools.

You are sure you set the rom path in hyperhq for sony playstation?

I am sure it is correct. It's like the picture from gigapig. And everything works through HyperLaunch AND if I uncheck the 'roms only' option also in Hyperspin. That leads me to the conclusion that I have the correct settings.

the rom path in Hyperlaunch is required.

the rom path for Hyeprlaunch 3 are stored in

\\Hyperlaunch\Settings\System Name\Emulators.ini

when Hyperlaunch is loading a game for a given system it will look for the path in this file.

Prior to RocketLauncher, their was no place for it to save its rom and emulator paths, this was accomplished by HyperHQ.

HyperHQ will store its rom, emulator and extension paths in

Hyperespin/Settings/Sony Playstation.ini

with RocketLauncher this paths can be left completely blank, their is absolutely no need for you to fill in your emulator path

the rom path and extensions are only used if you are using the "rom only" filter option.

when you enable the "roms only" option, HyperHQ will look for the rom path in

Hyperespin/Settings/Sony Playstation.ini, and not the ini file created by RocketLauncher.

their is a glitch for CD based systems if you have your CUE files in sub-folders

if you do have your games in sub folders here is a link on a discussion it will give you options to filter out the games you don't want.

Can you post a screenshot of the settings that you have in HyperHQ (not HyperLaunchHQ)? Sometimes it's as simple as removing periods from the file extension or adding a missing backslash.

This was it. I've put them into one folder, selected 'roms only' and now it works. Possible because all my psx files are named as the game, so I can put them into one folder. Great help!
