thenoob Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 K guys Since git has never worked for me, I'm having to update manually. I've found the proper link and downloaded the source zip from the correct location . I'm very scared of messing this up. How do I extract this? Just extract it right to my "hyperlaunch" folder and overwrite everything? If this is the proper way, when it overwrites everything am I going to lose all my emulator setups etc? That's my huge worry. If only git would work for me, just my luck! Happy holidays! May your holidays be filled with high scores!!
damageinc86 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 couldn't you save all the emulator setup files and then copy them back after you update?
thenoob Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 I have no idea. When you download with git and it goes into the hyperspin folder what do you do? Copy it over and it over writes the files right? Would this be the same thing??
32assassin Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 no. no and no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! their are two ways to update with GIT make your default hyperlaunch folder C:/Hyperspin/Hyperlaunch/ the download location for GIT. THIS IS A BAD IDEA!!! I have my GIT download folder at --> my downloads/Hyperlaunch/ the way I update is by doing a copy and past of the files that need to be updated chances are you have Hyperlauanch 3.0.0.9 ( from the download section) http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=5690 update from V3.0.0.9 to V3.0.1 just copy the required files for the update; you do not need to replace the entire folder. This way you don't run the risk of replacing files specific to your system. Upgrade V3.0.0.9 to V3.0.1 announcement http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?28314-HyperLaunch-v3-0-1-0-Update their are only a few files you need to update(+a media pack) most are fond in the Lib folder but you can replace entire folder. Copy an past overwriting this files Enitre folder: Lib HyperlaunchHQ Module Extensions DATA ( if you keep statistics, DO NOT MOVE THE SUB-FOLDER "Statistics) Modules Move and replace this files Hyperlaunch.AHK Hyperlaunch.exe Optional Media: not sure this folder gets updated or if you want the files. DO NOT MOVE THIS FILES/Folder Profiles --> directory for all your keymapper profiles, everyone should have their own specific to their system Settinngs--> this folder keeps track of your emulator/rom paths. You manually update this folder when you add a system. if you repeat the process to upgrade from V3.0.1.0 to V3.0.1.1 http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?30805-HyperLaunch-v3-0-1-1-Update you can easily upgrade with out knowing what specific files where updated. I don't have my arcade cab in a network, I upgrade it with a usb stick and only copy the files I listed to upgrade.
thenoob Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 Ya I've always gotten an "Git did not exit cleanly exit code 128" and it's never worked, ever. So the files you listed, just move them over into the folder, obviously there will be a prompt to overwrite, accept that and should be ok? I VERY much appreciate the detailed write up, it's stuff like this that makes this place awesome. I've been scared to do this all day and I appreciate you stopping me before I frigged it all up lol!!!
thenoob Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 I've do e exactly what's laid out What I'm trying to fix is to update the dreamcast module to the latest so it will use my 7z. When I go to general settings/module/ I see the demul 0.5.8. But when I scroll to dreamcast in my systems and go to emulators, only up to 0.5.7 shows up.... Any ideas why that's happening??
thenoob Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 K I've found everything and what not just running I to the same problem Says 0.5.8 does not support 7z when I know it does. I got as far as my game audit for dreamcast, all roms show up. My roms are in 7z. Supported extensions I put 7z|zip. Launched it in hyperlaunchHQ and says "7z is not a supported file type for this demul". Am I missing something? I thought 7z was totally supported??!?
thenoob Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 I think I'm on to it, seems like a missing ini file if anyone can chime in: Cannot find emulators/dreamcast/gpudx11.ini Almost there . If anybody knows what's up, I'm going to keep tinkering. Share your knowledge!
Turranius Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Quick google on that file http://www.emucr.com/2012/03/dx11-plugin-for-demul-v057-wip.html Mame related stuff: FTP: grandis.nu, port 21, user:misc, pass:misc http://grandis.nu/software Tur-Matcher - Match your roms/media/XML files.
