    The HyperSpin 2 beta is here!

    We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Reasons Why HyperSpin is Better Than Real Life

So, lets list the reasons why HyperSpin and these forums are better than real life.

I'll Start:

Hyperspin is better than real life because on the Hyperspin forums if someone dumps their problems all over you, you can usually outline two or three steps that will solve their problem, have them playing games in a jiffy, and they are usually grateful and you feel good about yourself and the world is a better place because of that transaction.

In real life, if someone dumps their problems all over you, you can usually offer your best advice but it won't solve anything, that person will not change much because of your effort, or really be enriched at all, and more often than not there is some weird transference wherein not only are they not grateful to you, but they call you an asshole for pointing out how they can take responsibility for the situation and/or better themselves.

I'll keep the tally here:

Hyperspin: 4

Real Life: 2

im going with real life. when im hungry it's the wife that's feeding me, hyperspin is just a addictive hobby that i never get to play because i am too busy reading the forum. LOL

I'll give the point to real life because wifes and food is pretty awesome. But, the above quote can apply to real life too. Dun dun dun. A tie.

Very true Mr LostDays, I've given advice to friends and even my own mother, you'd think they where completely deaf, but perhaps they weren't looking for help in the first place; perhaps they just wanted to talk.

This is a very rewarding place and the knowledge shared is quite amazing, I've certainly learned a lot in the pasts 2 years; but I could have probably done a degree with that time.

HyperSpins :2

Real Life 1

Do you not feel the love right here ;) or are you talking about a different kind of loving?

You've been hunched over your keyboard for 8 months, you turn round in your office chair....and everything is gone....even the walls. But your trusty poop sock is still by your side. :)

After countless hours working on hyperspin and my cab....everytime I look in the cabinet's direction now....I get the ol stinkeye from the wife.

Now that it is finished , I cant go near it

Wife =1

Hyperspin= 0

Good lord.... WHAT is a poop sock, Giga?

I've never played an MMO, but I have heard tales about players not wanting to drag themselves away from fictional world they inhabit.

That stale pizza has to come out eventually, so instead of getting off your ass and walking to the men's room, you just whip off a sock and hope your aim is true. And just like a used condom, you can tie a knot in the end. ;)

Well...the wife comes first obviously. I don't have anyone else to share my hyperspin with!!! No one else appreciates it. I need to get new friends.

But the wife is really good about it and lets me spend plenty of time on it. She's a gamer so she gets it.

I'll have to give this one a tie.

Real Life = 1

Hyperspin = 1

I must say that Retroarch took a lot of the joy out of hyperspin. It was too easy setting up 80% of my systems on it. Guess now I can concentrate on other tasks like setup those annoying systems like TTX and Dos and setup the controllers properly and create instruction cards and bezels.

So it seems like the only thing Real Life has going for it is sex (and I guess companionship if that's a thing for you). But, much like eating, and shitting in a toilet, these things are not mutually exclusive - unlesss you ask Giga... but please don't.

Styphelus: just do what I did. As part of transitioning hyperlaunch out of the hyperspin folder, I downloaded a copy of almost every emulator hyperlaunch will support, all in a folder called "Global Emulators" in my HL directory. I'm making sure every one of them work: you know, just in case.

So..... we're gonna see a toilet cab setup with a cup holder from Giga soon?

If you need proper sanitation, let me know. It's what I do. I can provide you with a 250mm diameter PVC sanitary sewer @ 2.0% slope. That should take care of your load in terms of capacity and achieve a flow of 0.83 cu.m/sec at a velocity of 1.71 m/s for a really good clean flush. Now lets talk about water pressures...

HS and HL (or tinkering with software in general) occupies my mind when worrying about real life stuff. My irl friends enjoy playing my systems. So we have a blast. Even my wife is playing (pinball)games as a non-gamer. This hobby enriches my life and my surroundings...

But! When a collegue asks a work related question, wich he could have googled, he really puts on a dumb face when i tell him to watch a GigaGuide video...

I won't lie, I used my experience here in a job interview recently. . . . . . . . .

Not directly, but "programming experience, research, organizational skills" all sound pretty good.
