Dreamcast CCD and CDI files

Hello all.

I have scoured the InterWebs and every method I have found fails.

In my attempt to get all the Sega Dreamcast games running and figure out what emu to use for each, I ran across a snag.

I have some games that have CCD or CDI file extensions and cannot figure out how to convert them successfully or get them to load in an emulator.

Does someone out there have any suggestions? Or know where I can find GDI versions of these roms (PM only please)?

These are the roms in question:

CCD Files:

DUX (Japan)

Fast Striker (Japan)

Grandia II (USA) (Disc 2)

Last Hope - Pink Bullets (Europe)

Last Hope (Japan)

GunLord (World)

CDI files:

Hello Kitty - Waku Waku Cookies (Japan)

Sega Swirl (USA)

When I get this part figured out, I plan on posting all the rom names and what emulator they run on. Along with the module settings and alternate emulator files. My hopes are to make this plug and play for those who don't have this setup complete.

Any help and I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Ron

Mount them in deamon tools, convert them in ultraiso with the make cd/dvd option.

Nice! Thanks for the reply!

It seems to work well for converting CCD files to MDS/MDF files. I cannot get it to convert to any other format and still work. They all show as Audio CD's in NullDC and Demul. The same with Discjuggler, all conversion show as Audio CD's. :(

One of the CCD roms did not convert, may be a bad rom.

None of the CDI files changed. They converted, but no difference.

Making some headway at least.

Thanks,

Ron

I had noticed this format issue and just wondered why they were converted to ccd/cdi and not gdi in the first place. How were the original games ripped to gdi?

None of the unlicensed games were released in GD-ROMs so obviously there's no gdi versions for them. Grandia II disc 2 is simply a music CD I think so scrap that.

Sega Swirl is ripped from some other game pack so no gdi as well. Not sure if there's a proper gdi dump for that Hello Kitty game, cdi format works fine though and the game fits in a CD. You can convert cloneCD dumps to cdi, but you will probably need to make them auto-bootable afterwards which is an added hassle so might as well grab the cdi versions instead, they should be in the usual sets.

Brolly,

Thank you for your response.

Wow... Just a music CD. ;) Noted and removed.

I could not get them to convert from CCD to CDI or GDI, so I converted them to NRG (ick!) and those did work.

I'll dig around and see if I can find GDI version of the roms that are CDI. :)

Thanks,

Ron
