The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Guys I am newbie. I got a hyperspin drive from a friend it works very well however I am confused how to use a joystick. I set the controls for hyperspin but in each emulstor how do I do it? Do I have to config each on individually? I want all systems to be the same meaning I can use one joystick . I read about xpadder and made a save file just not sure how to apply it to a keyboard an have it load. YouTube has video how tops using hyper launch for some reason I so. Have that.?

Thanks

Jim,

My advice is to play with every emulator in the settings. its fun, and yes its frustrating when its not working, but you will learn! and thats the fun.

there is no way to make 1 setting for all emu's,

if you use a good search in google with keywords like, remap control mame hyperspin ..... you find many good answers.

sorry there is no good news;-) to do it in 1 time.

Good luck

Hey

I can do it one at a time, however what do I do in regards to emulators that can not configure the EXIT key?

I am looking into Xpadder as well to ensure all emulators will have proper inputs.

Jim,

I think you bought a set on the internet?

the set is (i think) working with Hyperlaunch2, today we are working with RL, its a world of difference, RL is so pretty and stable.

in RL its always a good close with exit(mostly esc)

i never used the HL2, so i cant help you with that. sorry mate.

my advice is to buy a membership, all the work these guys(and girls) are doing here is so much worth it!

the can help, like many people did for me.

Hi demonseed

In RL under global settings you can map a button or combination of buttons to your controller for exiting in my opinion it's best to map a combination that way they don't contradict any of your systems primary controls.

You don't even need xpadder to do this.

Look under global settings- controls- exit emulator key

You can bind multiple different keys so just add what you want there.

Hope that helps

That assumes the drive has  HL/RL 3 on it and not HL2 as Gerurver mentioned. Best thing to do is give it back  and say "Fix it" :) or start again with Rocketlauncher.

rom jacket does what? I am confused.. doesn't hyperpsin do what I need?

If I load up HP3 do I have to reconfig everything that is already here? This is frustrating.. I am happy for the most part with my setup thus far (except controller, hiding windows (next step) and a few boxes that flash when starting or exiting certain emulators) I was hoping when I go this drive it would limit the configuring I had to do, so I can just play. I have four kids, and work full time, I hate to have to f around with this too much..... if I update to the newest etc.. may make things far worst.....

I can install in new DIR and start fresh, just do not want to lose everything I have setup. Whats the big differences with the newer one? My gaming hyper spin box does not have internet either :( down in the basement and the connection won't work..

So far I tested hyper spin and configured nes.. got them working, but I know that some emulators may not be so easy..... I set up my bad to be a keyboard so that hitting ESC exits.... (one button on joystick is ESC).

thanks

Looks like approx 30. Now I.likely only play a handful but I like the just in case option. I also want to add a few hacks to nes and genesis ( no idea how ) and pc games (no idea how too)

Have we determined whether the drive contains RocketLauncher or HyperLaunch 2?

You will also get better support for HyperLaunch here, www.rlauncher.com/ as that is where HyperLaunch support is dealt with.

Easiest way would be to give it back to your "friend" and ask him if he can fix it for you.  If hes a "friend" then I am sure he will help you out.

I and many other people here will help you out, but you need to learn at least the basics with Hyperspin first.  Getting a Hyperspin drive from a "friend" does not work that way unless your "friend" comes around to your place and sets it up for you.   Even then at some point you will need to know how to use it.

I understnad that you are busy and that you haev kids, jobs etc etc.. but getting drives off "friends" always ends up in this exact way. Now if you would like to fix the drive, you will have to invest some time into it, most probably starting from scratch.  We will help you, but no one here simply does a, "can you fix my drive for me I am just too busy?"  We also have jobs, families and children too... no one here gets paid?

6 drives this year I have fixed for people sa far.  Ranging from drives bought from the internet from so called specialists to drives which are as old as some of the machiones they emulate.  Each one of them I have had to start from scratch, Media and Games, sure I can use them but the actual Hyperspin install always looks like its been made by a 7 year old, or so old nothing can be done with it.

Now you see... There is no quick fix.  Yes, this thing is a pain in the as, but when you get it working its all worth it.  So I guess you got to ask yourself if you can invest into this. Not your money, but your time.  We can help, but you have to help yourself... but again.. you could always ask your "friend" to help you

Anyways... if your willing to take it on, give me a shout and I will see what I can do.  But please, never try to bullshit a bullshitter!

LOL .... I agree with the info on learning it... I just thought it would be a plug and play thing as described..... lesson learned.

i will look at what i have and if its too much to work with then i will have to start from scratch. :(

Who was your "friend?"  Iike I said I know most of their setups by now so I can tell what we are working with on this.  For a few of them I have drag and drop files which may help.  But I need to know what we are working with first.

You can PM me if you dont want to tell all the ins and outs.

The drive has links to tiptonware so I would think he got it from there. I went to the site and believe this one is older. Mine is 2gigs with drewmcast down. I didn't buy it from a site I friend on a forum hooked me up. I was hoping it would be easy for me but not so sure. Other thing is this goingi to make a game box to tv with a joystick. Then I want to make another cabinet with hyperspin. I haven't messed with a front end in years this hyperspin is pretty complicated. The so called pre setup drives are good ideas but it takes away from understanding how things work. I don't understand why hyperspin doesn't just make one app and you just point to directories. Make it more user friendly with all config files installed.... The setup looks mint and hyperspin is by far the coolest front end, but there is a load of setup issues.. Ok so this was a long winded reply... Most of it is unneeded. I should just say tiptonware.

Thanks

haha... then your out of look.  The info on there is even older than me and will be of no use.  If you want to improve it, start from scratch.  Save whatever roms and art you have and then just start from scratch.  Take a look in my sig, you can be up and runnung in a few hours with the latest version.

As for pre configured drives.... you will be in the same boat your are in now, plus out of pocket with whatever you bought it for.  None of them, I mean noe of them work the way they say.  I have seen them all :)

Hey Austin,

Ok so I spent 3 nights trying to make what I have work.. just won't work.. so I will try your guides.... now the issue I have is.. the drive I have is 2TB with only about 300 mb free. How much space is required for HS? I can move some files off the drive but my other drive isn't that large. I can free up a gig or two

thanks

I followed the tutorial and got a fresh install of hyperspin, and mame working! However still issues when I use a joystick.. sometimes for example I hold left to change the letters of games and it flicks and wont go.... but if I use keyboard it works? I can't wait to try more.... thanks so much Austin... I will see how things go on the next setup...

If anyone uses retroarch and has issues with the screen being off.. you have to go into each individual configure to set it correctly. Also is there a setting in the configurations for filters?

One thing I did do was order an official Microsoft xbox wireless gamepad... replace my old PSX to USB adapter....

Also wondering about GIT or what ever it is called for updates? I never did that step and wondered the advantages of it. In regards to different sounds, where do they go? all I see is numbers.mp3?

Lastly all is working well,. however when I press enter to start a game there is like a 5 second delay?  Today I got NES, Sega, Genesis, 32x, Gameboy advance, mame, and snes going! Love this..

Thanks
