Pinball999 Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 My Hori stick found its place in the cab. This will be great for the vertical shoots!
Pinball999 Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Still waiting for the DMD, but I'm finally getting there.
Pinball999 Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 Hi there, I have a quick question to the cab owners using a DMD from VirtuaPin. I have ordered my unit last year (end November) and I'm still waiting for it to be shipped. I've been told that Vishay had problems to deliver on time recently, but this is almost a 4 months waiting time. So.. Am I the only one having this issue? How long did you guys had to wait to receive yours?
Gilrock Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Hmm...well I ordered mine 3-4 weeks ago and was expecting it to be a 6-8 week wait. Are you saying you ordered it 16 weeks ago and the website said the same thing back then? Gil
Pinball999 Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 That's correct Gilrock. I'm now really curious to see if others are in the same situation.
neohusky Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I ordered mine late November and got it the first week in Feb To know, is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge.
mikekim Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Hi there,I have a quick question to the cab owners using a DMD from VirtuaPin. I've been told that Vishay had problems to deliver on time recently, but this is almost a 4 months waiting time. So.. Am I the only one having this issue? How long did you guys had to wait to receive yours? I have had one on order since July of last year... got fed up waiting and bought another unit.. will end up selling the Virtuapin one (with a pindmd) when it finally arrives!!!
Pinball999 Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 July??? Did you contact them? What is their explanation for such a delay??
mikekim Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 i've contacted them on a couple of occasions, the first 5 months of delays where due to stock shortages, it was supposed to be shipped in December. I apparently was sent an email in February (no idea on the two month gap on that one) about requiring a phone number for international shipping , which I never received, finally got another mail from them yesterday and have supplied the required number, so we shall see how long it takes to get here ..
Pinball999 Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Ok, some news on the DMD front. The Vishay has just been shipped, let's hope it will arrive safely here!
mikekim Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 my vishay from virtuapin finally arrived on saturday
Pinball999 Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 Cool! Still planning to place it as in Cirqus Voltaire? If so, we need pics!
mikekim Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 yes i will be installing under the playfield glass, no idea when i'm going to do it though.
Pinball999 Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 Breaking news, the Vishay arrived... or at least the customs dared to inform me yesterday. Almost one month after it was shipped! Now back to work.. it's time to cut the speaker panel!
Pinball999 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Did some work on the Speaker panel, and managed to test the DMD in place. This is like day and night!
scottpe Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Speaker panel looks great! What did you use as a template for the speaker holes?
Pinball999 Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 Thanks Scottpe. I'm quite pleased with the result so far. Looking forward to putting the speaker cover and painting it. For the template, I've used a classic Williams template and enlarged it a bit to better fit the bigger panel. A jig was then created with my router after finding the radius to match the size I had in mind.
Pinball999 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Hi there, I have a strange font/DMD issue on a few tables running with Future Pinball. I'm relatively new to FP, and have been checking the forums but could not find anything so far. I've made a short video showing the problem (note that it has nothing to do with the real DMD) Anyone here would have an idea on how to fixe it?
Pinball999 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 OK.. problem fixed.. it's the language settings. They should be "US english".
zanyt13 Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Yes! Also....for you guys that have gray DMD's....go to video settings and check Disalble GLSL Shaders.
Pinball999 Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Glad you like it Russ, it's thanks to youthat this is possible Installing the PinDMD2 and the drivers was a piece of cake. And the results are beyond my first expectations! I have just uploaded another video showing the DMD on Big Bang Bar, with the BAM static view. Please forgive the poor video quality... in real conditions, the DMD looks much darker. BTW. I have never explained why there is no glass in front of the backglass... The reason is quite simple.. Since the Pincab is in my living room, I did not want to have 3 TVs in the same area and decided to use the 32" to watch TV programs. As a consequence, the TV front button had to be accessible, and no glass had to be used to avoid reverberations. This allows to save some money on the HW side, and ALSO some place in your living room. So in a way, the cab is now a big TV furniture that can be switched between TV and gaming modes
Pinball999 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 A short vid of the cab in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=B-ZAiOjRJds
