cowbells Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Here's the game: Pick one game that is considered a classic or is practically universally loved. Now tell us all the reasons why you hate that game despite it's popularity. Sometimes the 'greats' really aren't that great, and hey, you're entitled to an opinion. Time to exercise that right! Btw, this is for fun, not to start arguments. If someone hates on your favorite game or whatever, grow up and realize that not everybody is going to agree with your taste. This thread is not about defending games, it's about bashing them! Besides, we're railing the already recognize classics. It should be understood most people like it. So zip it fan boys! Got it? Sweet! What game do you hate?
cowbells Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 I'll go first. Shenmue. Dear god I hate this game. I tried guys, I really really did. Even with a damn guide I couldn't force myself through the first disc of this pile of crap. The best game on the Dreamcast? Please! I love Yu Suzuki, I love open world games, you'd think I'd love this game, but nope! It sucks. I can never figure out where the hell I'm supposed to go, then, you finally figure something out and you end up missing one of those stupid press a certain button quickly bullshit things, making you feel like you're going to miss out on the good ending or something. Plus the characters are beyond uninteresting to me. I didn't give a damn what this kid was about or why I should care about his life. The voice acting and story are so bad that it's just funny. Seriously my buds and I were cracking up at it whenever a cut scene would come up. So, the most fun part of the game is completely unintentional! Most of the time I spent playing this game was literally spent away from the controller so I could let time pass. Miss something? Just leave the game on, start making dinner and come back half an hour later. Soooo stupid. Before I gave up on it completely, I found myself just going straight to the arcade games and playing Space Harrier. The fact that Space Harrier is embedded within the game is one of it's few redeeming qualities. I truly don't understand what people see in this game. I really just don't get it. Felt like torture to me. I've read that there's an epic brawl at the end, but nah. It's just not worth it.
Circo Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 It was cool but I only ever ended up getting a few hours in, In the end its like a cross between bus simulator and gta. Way too much bus simulator ___________________________________ HyperSpin Website Admin Team Also Visit EmuMovies.com
Agrajag Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Dragon's Lair. I remember it being a momentous occasion when I got this running on my PC a few years ago, but I died after a few seconds every time I played it. I gave up in disgust and never went back to it. fainche Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 When I was a kid I really love this game but, when this game become available on computer or pc. I became to hate this game because I easily died on the first round. That game was super mario scramble.
dark13 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Pacman, AKA the most boring game ever. No space for improvisation, survival means following stupid patterns to death. Over and over the same freaking unimaginative labyrinth, over and over the same boring gameplay without a single variation. Really, I'll never get why it's high rated still today. I can understand the craze back in 80's but later installment like pacmania are MUCH better... dark13 Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Again, sega GT on dreamcast. Right now it's completely forgotten but it was high rated back in the days. The game was supposed to compete with gran turismo but it was a complete trainwreck. I can't believe that sega game designers, the same behind the track of daytona, virtua racing, scud race, put in the game the most boring track ever to feature a racing game. Probably they used scrapped tracks from some virtua racing ports. Graphic was mediocre at best: car's colors were completely wrong, just as the graphic guys had to deal with a fixed palette. Some textures seems to have even pixellation problem and even sega rally 2, a mediocre windows CE ports, does not have this issue. The driving style was a mix between arcade and simulation, it was the same on gran turismo BUT sega GT failed in everything that was almost perfect in polyphony's game. Moreover, dreamcast owners keep talking about how this pile of poo was good while overlooking a TRUE gem like metropolis street racing. Admittely MSR had its flaws but it was light years more advanced than sega GT. Way too much bus simulator Actually there was a bus simulator on dreamcast Shenmue is a type of game that not every gamers can like but the concept behind it was revolutionary (yeah, i'd like a shenmue 3 ) Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin
zomboided Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Elite. Dull as fuck. Still want to play the latest one with an Octopus bolted to my face though... Sensible Soccer. Kick Off 2 was the "original" and best. Any RPG. I just don't want to spend my life levelling characters up to get pretend gold. Nice topic! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
brudibru Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of Empires and all the RTS in general. It is called Real time strategy games but there's nothing strategic to me as It is just about following some patterns and moving your mouse around as quickly as possible. I just hate the micro management in those games. Then again I may feel that way because I suck so bad in those games If we talk classic gaming I would say Afterburner for the obvious reason that there was no real gameplay as you never know what's going on. Loved the cabinet though.
