Download Section Woes

MAME is now at 1,279 game themes with 601 left to sort.

Wait. There are only 1880 arcade/MAME games? Is that right? I thought there were several thousand.

That's how many themes we have, many games don't have a theme.

I thought by saying there are only 601 left to make that you meant then every game would have a theme. I figured that even if you stripped out all the crap mahjong.casino/redemption stuff there would still be at least 3k actual games.

I used the word sort, not make. By sorting; I mean moving them to the correct location, adding a screenshot and all the correct information.

That makes me feel much better. The thought of only 1800 games really bummed me out.

only 1800??? i will give between 500 and 800 a theme, and then call it quits, i went through all MAME videos and i have like maybe 800 that are (Arcade Hits) and or not well know but much fun... above a thousand isn't worth it. i have recreated 436 new MAME themes at the moment after 5 years and i am glad not all the thousand of games are worth a redraw, that would take me 15 years lol

That's the best thing about HS, is that you can customize it to your needs.

Some people like to collect every ROM. I'm like Sub-Zero, I only have the

games that I will actually play or have time to play for that matter.

I have around 1,600 MAME ROMs in my set-up.

Anyway I'm working on getting the "base" set of themes in the downloads,

then I'm going back and adding alternative themes (for same games).

The actual number of themes will fluctuate.

There is 8 years of submissions to sort through.

I hope this makes sense.

Roadrunner is creating Pinball FX themes, Pinball Arcade is a different pinball game. Unless I am mistaken he is only doing FX.

I don't know the difference in the Pinball systems, my apologies then.

That is the only pinball themes that I'm aware of.

I can understand that.

Personally I like the thought that someone can come over and walk up to the machine and find any game they remember playing years ago and it won't be edited out.

 

For example if I had a friend tell me about his awesome arcade machine and I went to check it out, but when I went to play say... Cosmo Police Galivan it wasn't there simply because he didn't want it that would really suck. I would think it was lame. I would be pretty angry, make fun of him, punch him in the nose, take his wife, steal his car and run over his dog to teach him a lesson.

 

Friends don't let friends censor games.

Update: back on track (what this thread is for )

I added a batch of MAME themes that don't appear to be in HyperSync.

New count: 1300 done, 601 to sort.

It may be worthwhile to check out.
