Amstard GX4000 and Retroarch

I have the Amstard GX4000 running in Mess but I can't get it to work in Retroarch (Mess Core). I have a .cpr rom set and a .bin rom set. Retroarch won't read either.

 

Has anyone been able to run it in Retroarch?

 

In Mess the games run but I get a really big grey border with a small game window.

I have GX4000 running through the Retroarch RL module using the MESS core. I'm using a .CPR set with it just fine.

I've revisited RA/Mess recently and just managed to get things working by following old thread etc.

 

What I've done to finally get some working is.

 

Used a recent nightly build, not the stable version in the nightly section.

 

Get the latest 0.161 bios files and place them in \RetroArch\system\mess. I did not rename any as suggested in the thread below.

 

Grabbed the latest MESS core from here. 

 

I've not set any per system configs, it's currently just using the "mess_libretro.cfg" but I may try to add some if they are needed.

 

I do have the path to the config folder and Mess Bios folder set in RLUI.

 

Just tested Amstrad GX4000 and it worked straight away.

Thanks for the help everyone. Finally got it working but this one was weird.

 

1. I had to download the latest nightly.I was using a nightly from a few weeks ago and the Mess core just didn't want to work with the GX4000

 

2. I had to create a config file and name it Amstrad GX4000.cfg and still fill out all the info in the module. It wouldn't work any other way.

Me again with this sytem. Got it running in Retroarch but I like the Mess HLSL settings better.

 

However it seems that the games are all over the place, even ib retroarch. The menus and main game screetns display fine but once the games start, some are ok, some show in a small window with big black bars around. Some are shitted to the left, some shifter towards the bottom of the screen.

 

Is there anyway to have per game settings in Mess? Mainly looking for individual horizontal and vertical strech and screen positions. I tried creating individual ini files but it seems like the screen positions get daves in the system's cfg file.

I've got mine setup with MESS but don't recall these issues. Which games are screwing up? I'll check mine for you.

I'm talking about this. Some games will fill up the whole screen, some have black borders all the way around. Still others like Dick Tracy will have a black bar on the left.
