i already see your problem. You cant have marquee enabled and you also have control set to false instead of the number 2

Hulk, just to set expectations. When it does work you will be a bit disappointed as the marquee just has a placeholder right now. You will be happier in the next release.

Also double check the path to hyperspin. By default it is set to d:\hyperspin. You may have it on a different drive or folder.

Nah, coincidentally Hyperspin is on my D drive lol. So marquees don't work yet? I may just wait till the next release then man. Thanks a lot though guys!

Btw for what it's worth setting marquee or controls to false instead of true did work at least the app doesn't close now.

Did you put in the screen number where I said? and did you in screen settings left justify? Did you get it working?

Yeah I tried that but it didn't do anything even though the program is sitting in the tray.

OK, new version with greater marquee functionality is now uploaded. When you download it will overwrite your settings.xml file (which is needs to due to new settings) so make sure you re-apply your changes to that file.

I've also updated some of the info on http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com to document the new features.

As always, if you have ideas on how to make it better I'm up for suggestions.

Question: do I have to have three screens or can I make the control helper screen false and make the marquee screen true? And change the numbers around in the xml and it will work?

That should work. Just remember in windows to move your monitors around. The marquee assumes its above the primary display in windows.

Ok got the marquee working but its only using the default image you provided.[

It must not be finding any images prior to using the default. Double check your directories relative to this order.

When entering a game it looks for images in the following order and uses the first it can find:

1. [hyperspin folder]\media\[emulator]\Images\Marquee\[rom name].png

2. [hyperspin folder]\media\[emulator]\Images\wheel\[rom name].png

3. [hyperspinhelper application folder]\images\misc\marquee.png image

Also, it doesnt show the image until you actually go into the game in case you didnt try that.

Ya I tried one marquee image for nes and it didn't show. I can't try Mame right now cause I have hyper bezel installed and the to programs don't like each other. If you have dual monitors installed with hyper bezel then it makes Mame run on both screens truimphing hyperspin helper. Also I figured if I didn't have a marquee it would display wheel image but its just not the case. I see it flash like its trying to load something but it just defaults back to the retro arcade marquee

yeah it should definitely go to the wheel image if it can't find a marquee image. It sounds like it is unable to read your hyperspin directory for some reason. I would say check the path to hyperspin setting but I think other things would blow up before then.

That's interesting about the hyper bezel install. Maybe I should try to add the same functionality to my program. I thought about trying to make a universal bezel program for every emulator but I think its gonna be too complex.

You mean in hyper spin helper setting XML? Cause that's all setup and ready to go. That would be cool if it would do bezels to I just don't how it would handle the 3 screen setup. I'm working on getting the three screens setup now. Just bought a 16 wide screen from tigerdirect for $69.00 to inlay into my control panel.

The hanns g monitor? That's what I'm using for the controls display too.

I'm totally stumped on the reason why the images on the marquee aren't showing.

I uploaded a new version which allows the monitors to be placed anywhere in windows and it will find them as long as you assign the correct windows monitor # in the settings.xml file.
