dreadiej2 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Ok, after having close to 7 emulators properly set, my hard drive crashed and lost everything. Before I was using hyperlaunch and hyperspin, but now with RocketLauncher I have found problems with every emulator to set. I have no money to do hypersync, so this is all manual work. I am having problems closing out fusion when pressing esc key. Even when I go to RocketLauncher and change the exit key, it does not change. I'm tired and would like to know how can I exit fusion properly from hyperspin. HELP PLEASE!!!
dreadiej2 Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Also, why when I check the tutorial section it is empty? Not to mention that all the old links for the old forums is gone, so there is basically no information on how to set up these emulators properly...sorry for ranting but I have had spend way too much time trying to figure this out on my own and nothing still...
Styphelus Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Hypersync is not that great and won't do anything for your setup. it only downloads artwork and videos for you. My advice is to use retroarch for most of your systems. Once you setup one systems, all others are more or less the same. very few of us here still use Fusion.
gigapig Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 The search feature on this new site is excellent, I've been able to find most things. There have been other people over the last few days with exit issues and from what I have read they have made an error with the installation. Are you using rocketLauncher and did you follow the transition tool instruction correctly? Edit: Here is one http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/9568-cant-exit-an-emulator-with-set-keys-in-rocketlauncher/#entry154531
dreadiej2 Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks for the replies, I've taken a look into retroarch, I may end up using that. As far as the transition tool, not sure if I need to use it since my old hard drive crashed. Probably start working on retroarch in the evening. Thanks for the replies again.
dreadiej2 Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 ok, so I'm able to launch a game from rocketlauncher using retroarch, but when I go to hyperspin nothing happens, I'm looking around the forums and I get no answer to my problem. Any ideas?
dreadiej2 Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 I've spent more than 3 hours...not a single game launches on hyperspin, though I can launch it on rocketlauncher. I'm starting to feel tired of this, it's not straightforward as in the past. Any help with steps by steps would be awesome...
dreadiej2 Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Well, that is nice and everything jeremy, I have a computer science degree and this is by far the worst user non-friendly front end. I unistall everything and reinstall everything from scratch, games launch on rocketlauncher but not on hyperspin...
Dunk3000 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 It is still just as straightforward as in the past, a name change to rocketlauncher did not change that. Sheesh Jeremy, why so blunt? And in this case unhelpful and inaccurate... Dread, don't give up. The change to rocket launcher HAS changed setup process. Hyperspin 1.3 by default looks for a program called hyperlaunch to launch games - but that doesn't exist in ur setup cuz it's called rocketlauncher now So... on the rocket launcher forum (rlaunc her.net) you will see there is a transition tool. When you run it it writes all your hyperspin system ini files to tell it to run launch rocket launcher instead of hyperlaunch - that should sort you out Hyperspin 1.4 improves this process but it is still in beta testing so only available to platinum members atm. So yeah, things a bit more complicated whilst the Transition happening, but it's just bad timing rather than the software being flawed. As u setting up from scratch I recommend putting hyperspin in one folder on root of ur chosen drive (I.e. c:/hyperspin) and rocketlauncher in another (I. E. C:/rocketlauncher) and emulators in another (I. E. C:/emulators) to keep everything separate and simple. If u got things running in rocketlauncher u very nearly there - we can help u with last bit . Let us know how u get on please and where you are still stuck if still not working.
dreadiej2 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 It's no problem really, Jeremy has been more than helpful in helping me at least pin point where the problem lies. In the past, I was able to get everything working, plus a lot of the information from the old forums is inaccessible (at least to my present knowledge), so I have mame and had all the others working except fusion. Now I deleted the old profiles and replaced them with retroarch, it is a much harder emulator to set up but not impossible, currently I am able to lauch it and run it from RocketLauncher, but definitely not from hyperspin, so the issue should be somewhere there. I will definitely give the transition tool a try. Thanks again guys.
shitoken Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Sorry for hijacking friends just wanted to know why use rocketlauncher and not hyperlauncher?
32assassin Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Well, that is nice and everything jeremy, I have a computer science degree and this is by far the worst user non-friendly front end. I unistall everything and reinstall everything from scratch, games launch on rocketlauncher but not on hyperspin... if you can get your games to launch trough Rocketlauncer most of your hard work is already done. to expand on what Drunken300 mentioned when you hit enter ( load a game in Hyperspin) . Hyprspin sends this string --> Hyperlaunch.exe "system name" "Rom_name" Hypesrpin 1.4 is smart enough to know if you are using Rocketlauncher or Hyperlaunch because you need to add the full path to your exe Hyperlaunch_Path=C:\HyperSpin\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe or (if you are using hyperlaunch 2) Hyperlaunch_Path=C:\HyperSpin\hyperlaunch.exe the path to your exe in Hyperspin 1.3 is only Hyperlaunch_Path=C:\HyperSpin\RocketLauncher or (if you are using hyperlaunch 2) Hyperlaunch_Path=C:\HyperSpin\ you have to run the transition tool in order to make Hyperspin version 1.3 look for Roocketaluncher.exe instead of Hyperlaunch.exe Although not recommended!!!!!!! you can make a copy of your Rocketlauncher.exe and rename the copy to Hyperlaunch.exe and avoid the need to run the transition tool. if and when you decided to upgrade to Hyperspin 1.4, all you have to do is delete the renamed Rocketlauncher and switch the path to the correctly named Rocketlauncher.exe and the reason that you want to run Rocketlauncher over Hyperlaunch is because Rocketlauncher as many built in features missing from Hyperlaunch.
Dunk3000 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 It's no problem really, Jeremy has been more than helpful in helping me Cool, in which case I apologise for my comment If u have other systems working through hyperspin and rl, maybe go to hyperspin > settings and look at the ini files comparing a working one with your Sega genesis one and see if difference? Also try turning off any advanced rl things like on non working system like fade, key mapper etc incase they interfering w launch Getting it running in rl means u done all the hard stuff - just need to get hyperspin to use rl to launch it now Ken - I don't know about others, I only replied about rl because that's what dread was using. And I only use rl because when i started I used RL which turned in to rl. It worked good for me and I liked functions so no need for me to change to hl2 (in a, if it ain't broke why fix it kinda way)
dreadiej2 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 so the only other system I have and working properly is mame, with retroarch the problem goes like I mentioned before, I click on the super nintendo wheel, then when I go to hit enter and choose a game, nothing happens, game does not launch, video media on hyperspin continues like nothing, but my keys get frozen, the only way I get control is by pressing the window key to use the mouse to click again on hyperspin, and only then I can press esc to exit out of it. Any clues to what my problem could be? I followed Simply Austin guide to the teeth, I think the problem is RocketLauncher. I will also post my settings ini files. dreadiej2 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 After this I go to bed, when going to the log viewer, I get a warning on line 34 that says: "C:\HyperSpin\RocketLauncher\Lib\User Functions.ahk" not found
Styphelus Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 This line: hyperlaunch=false should be changed to hyperlaunch=true It tells hyperspin to use Rocketlauncher (formelly known as hyperlaunch) also, this: romextension=7z|zip|rar|cue|bin|sfc|fds|gba|gb|gbc|nes|ngc|ngp|gg|sms|md|a26|32x|pce|ccd|sg|sc|n64|v64|z64 should be changed to: romextension=7z,zip,smc,sms (This states that your Super Nintendo Roms will have any of those extensions that need to be used) This (7z|zip|rar|cue|bin|sfc|fds|gba|gb|gbc|nes|ngc|ngp|gg|sms|md|a26|32x|pce|ccd|sg|sc|n64|v64|z64) should be only for Rocketlauncher under global emulators >Retroarch because it will tell Rocketlauncher to use any of those extensions with retroarch. It's a bit confusing especially if you are new to this but it will all make sense in the end.
dreadiej2 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Ok, now I'm in business. I uninstalled and started fresh, only thing I did not was update rocketlauncher. Thanks everyone for everything, hopefully if anyone else have the same issue they will try this...
dreadiej2 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Yeah it's working, now on to look how to save configuration settings on retroarch and hyperspin.
dreadiej2 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Anyone knows of a link or a tutorial on how I get retroarch to keep the settings I set for each system separate? Example, SNES settings and NES settings being different? Everytime I do settings for a system on retroarch and load a different game through hyperspin the settings return to whatever it was originally...
Styphelus Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 In the Retroarch main menu, select Save New Config. For example for SNES It will save a config file along the lines of snes9x_liberto.cfg in your Retroarch config folder. Now go to that folder and rename that file to your system name Super Nintendo Entertainment System.cfg. Retroarch main menu = F1 Accept/ok = X Back,/Cancel = z
dreadiej2 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Got it working, thank you all especially you Styphelus. I know I will return when I start setting up the cd based systems when I get more storage and a better cpu.
Styphelus Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 They are already setup if you are using my Retroarch setup. You will see in the config folder that those systems are already there (Sega CD, TurboGrafx CD, PC-Engine CD and so on)
