Just checked my Hyperspin, It's working now also, I've been in process of switching to launchbox, but a lot of bureaucracy is still there (the shit i was trying to get away from). However, with a bit of tweaking and some willingness to do without a few features on my part, I think I could come out a little better by the time I have everything set up. Here is where I'm at so far with setting up Launchbox (note, Lb crashed on me in the first few minutes, but was fine afterwards) I'm in process of creating Rlauncher style loading screens and as far as the pause menu goes, I think the content deliver is a bit more efficient so most pause menus are actually not even required.

This 8 way mexican standoff between the platforms is ridiculous. In its current state HS2 functions better as a media manager than a full platform. I tried it again last night and ran into a lot of clunkyness, artwork not showing up...things just generally don't make sense to me and i run into broken things almost constantly, no way to shut those stupid badges off etc. Launchbox is much further along, but I run into issues when I start connecting it to rlauncher because the rlauncher plugin doesn't parse subfolders for artwork for the fadescreen, and from what I understand Agent47 is less than willing to help with that. HS 1.5 is becoming outdated with no way to reverse engineer it for updates. Somethings got to start giving.

Looking more into launchbox, I've had it mildly set up on the backburner for a while. I would rather go with an original idea that's established than a thieved mixture of several ideas. Until HS (classic can be reverse engineered and updated in a proper way this is just going to keep coming up again and again. I hope an update fixes this, but I won't hold my breath on it.....it's a damn shame, I've worked on this platform for the better part of 14+ years. Times are a changin, that's for sure.

In my case that's quite an undertaking. It would be less effort to wait it out for a fix from windows or have the program updated if possible. I uninstalled 'KB5055627', still broken. I'll wait for the next round of windows updates and see if it gets sorted, if not...then it looks like I've got quite a bit of work to do.

I have, still nothing. I have 2 hyperspins on my machine, both are not working. I'll note that I have Windows 11 Pro on my machine. I have found that when HS launches, some files are distributed to 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\Temp' then immediately removed.... this 'feels' as if the program is just flat out being blocked from launching rather than an app crash, but i could be way off in guessing that. I do see 'KB5055627' installed on my machine I do not see these updates installed... KB5053598 KB5053656 KB5055523

Tried this, no joy. Also according to a microsoft forum it seems that after 10 days of 24h2 being installed that rolling back to 23h4 is no longer an option and the only options are to reset the pc or to wait for a fix from MS...some spanish speaking folks on reddit claim that an update has fixed their systems already with a new security KB that has come out, that i assume is regionally distributed. Useless info, but I'll throw out that I happen to know that during mid 2023 Microsoft did a massive budget cut and operations restructuring.... I imagine because of trickle down economics that QA went out the window in the interest of time. Unless someone happens to find a fool proof fix for this, i guess i'll just have to wait for additional updates from MS for this to sort itself out. It does look like @jhabers has been updating this most recently and perhaps could provide some insight on how to reverse engineer the classic version of hyperspin to ensure continued support, or at least provide some documentation on how to support it so that someone else can take over. If hyperspin 2 is taking precedent, then Hyperspin classic should be de-licensed as "Open Source".

I only have 3 updates available to remove and none of them are the KB's mentioned in this thread... I've tried removing them but then never seem to actually remove....starting to think my OS is f*cked. Trying to avoid totally wiping my PC and starting over because I'm pretty deep into configurations and such and unfortunately don't have a recent backup...not that it would help anyway if my OS is fucked.

Posting a comment here, I'm having this issue just recently after some updates applied. I have tried searching for 5055523 to remove as previous suggestions have recommended doing so. I don't see that update installed at all, but still my Hyperspin, I can see it launch in task manager and close immediately. I've tried removing other updates, but nothing has worked thus far.

I just tried too connect my steam account and went through the wizard. I used the api key from my account however, I misremembered my account name as "Shredder" my actual account name is "Shredder5262" , However, I was still able to get through the wizard and currently a library is scanning for 7726 games that are not mine... I am assuming they are someone else's named "Shredder".... This should be considered an urgent security issue and a check should be addressed sooner than later. I just went through the wizard again and corrected the user name and it has added the correct account. This suggests that as long as you can provide an api key, you can type in whatever username you want and it would connect to the account (I have not tested this outside of the accident described above, just a theory)

Thanks for clarifying...that does make me curious how the relationship between rlauncher and hyperspin is supposed to coexist successfully. Could that mean an Rlauncher v2 is in the works? I'd really love to see a simplification of adding systems. That makes me both happy and sad, if so, because that is SOOO much work I would have to do/redo...though I feel like an update of that platform is needed.... I recently ventured into LB territory....my honest opinion is meh, there are some core design choices that make absolutely no sense to me....though there are some features that i like. Something has cosmically pulled me back to this website, could be out of happenstance because I'm unemployed ATM due to economic pressures; that's a whole different story altogether. Anyway, rant over, I look forward to whatever is in the works from the HS community. My roots lay here as long as the vision makes sense.

I don't really get wrapped up in this stuff, but I'll add that my experience with him is a crap chute. Sometimes he's helpful, sometimes he's very short with me. *shrug*. By the previous mentions here, I'm assuming he is the sole owner of the Hyperspin and RL infra?....I hope not. Sole ownership is never a good thing, that needs to be addressed unless it is planned for this community to shut down; I would have a thing or two to say about that. Whatever the case, I would suggest having 3 owners, in case someone dies or something. There is a split community on Discord were folks are actively still creating bezels and such, that's all I'm aware of. I have concerns about file/longterm storage with that, but I don't ask questions. I do wish that there was a movement to revive this community though. This is certainly a place for joy for me. While I'm 'on one', I'll throw out that I do think there is a morality component to emulation. I've seen a lot of people deving or having questions for newer emulators and I think that is wrong and , to me, is an unattractive look to the HS community ...stay 1-2 gens behind the latest console or until the later consoles are no longer profitable for the creator. This all IS shadow IT after all... I'm not out to destroy anything that we all love. Thanks for the read.

Bills already off the deep end, it's more like Satya Nadella and his f*ckin minions can eat a bag of dicks. I hate em all. Him and his diversity and inclusion BS. (insert long story here) Anyway, Here is a page of confirmed issues with 24H2, The list on the page looks to be actively maintained as issues are reported to MS. Item 1 on the list looks relevant to me as it relates to issues with games launching. As a long time emulator advocate, Good. Emulation has always been shadow IT and should be, it just does not make sense for a shadow to be in front of or equal to the thing that it's trying to replicate. It destroys the thing that we love then in the end we're all just swimming in darkness. This is nintendo's way of a saying..."Hey, stop it. To these overly ambitious devs" that just like to shit shovel. Have you SEEN the latest emu's for modern consoles? They have a fancy gui, but require seemingly endless maintenance and they work half-assed at best if you're so lucky as to get that far. I am mostly speaking to my latest experience at moving to PS3 emulation...geesh. I say, hold off for a while...stay 1-2 consoles back from current gen consoles until it is no longer profitable for the business and then the dev's have additional time to release a better version of their factory 2 emulators, instead of releasing buggy ass ones and letting end users find them and complain about them. The whole 'it's not a problem until it's a problem' philosophy from devs is getting rather old. I prefer good craftsmanship.

Hi all, I don't come to the website much these days, but thought I would swing by for a shameless plug about a website I launched with that contains a section for hyperspin. Is there documentation or a resource for SWF's? I don't know how they work or how to create them. *small update* I dug into SWF's a bit (I've never looked into them before at all and I do think it's "The way" , I don't know how to create them, Looks like I've got some learning to do... *another update* Purchased Adobe Animate (grumble grumble) I was able to make an SWF file with a card that i had previously made for a sample (this will not be the final thing, I'm just trying to get the idea functional at the moment). I was able to get the animation displayed at the sub-wheel level...not ideal; I would prefer it on the main wheel, but I think on the main wheel it only displays 1 animation according to the wheel and not the currently active system. So I settled for the Sub-wheel. I was able to get the card to display, but there are some annoying nuances that maybe someone can advise on.... I want the card to do a short animation in to the upper left corner and stay there...that's it. Currently It does a slide in and slide out and i don't want that. I want it to animate in and infinitely stay there until i back out of the wheel.

Is this what you mean? See "NES" Menu wheel. Interesting, It's closer-ish to what I was thinking... It does disappear once the theme is in focus. It's plausible. So far these are great ideas, not sure that i've quite found the bingo yet though...

That is a good idea and something to consider...a little overkill for what I'm after but perhaps that may be the only other way to really do it. I did make controller cards that would display in the pause >controller menu, but it's not until the game is already loaded until you would be able to see what controller to use...which is a little counterintuitive. I'm still open to other suggestions if there is any other ways of doing this.

I'm in search of a way to display a controller diagram on a system theme either on demand or a small visual queue on the theme itself as to what controller needs to be used for the system, for example If I am on the SNES hyperspin theme, then i would see a small SNES controller somewhere on the theme or with a single key press. This is an obvious example...but there are some situations where it is not so obvious. Such as virtual boy would require a playstation controller; and so I would have a playstation controller icon somewhere on screen. Is there some sort of way i can do this?
