The HyperSpin 2 beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Hello my name is Cathrin,

I am new to this... over the weekend we decided to build a cabinet with the children.   Thought it was time to show them what we grew up with back in the 70s 80s and 90s. Thought it would be a neat project for the summer we know how bored children get.   My husband and I are not new to gaming but new to emulations. Yesterday I pulled out 2 raspberry pis we had knocking about the A and the B (512 version) spent 12 hours to no avail.  Tried Retropie with RetroArch just keep getting errors.  Seen 007Craft's video on youtube which led us here. Which is the best setup  PC vs Pi? and software needed. Please help I can't face another 12 hours with no productivity. We will post build progress and we go.

Welcome! It's not often you hear about parents actually encouraging their children to stay indoors and play video games during the summer : -)

You've definitely come to the right place if you want to build a versatile PC-based cabinet, but you can also have a lot of fun with the Raspberry Pi. At a recent family get together I kept my middle-aged cousins and their offspring entertained for hours with an X-Arcade controller and a Pi 2 running MAME. Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Devil Fish were all big hits.

We are actually getting the children involved in the actual build fortunately my hubby has a well kitted out work shop. So there will be a lot of outdoor projects. Figured by the time the weather goes downhill it will be ready. I'm working on the software part of it currently well into PC setup thanks to Austin's videos there brilliant and we have two Pi's at our disposal an A and B+ so might end up doing that too. Our last project was a steel racing Sim with quad monitors setup. The Arcade is for the line waiting to get on Sim.
