ArcadeGirl Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Hiya! Ok, I agree after reading the comments there is no real reason for Neo Geo CD. What is the major difference if any from Neo Geo AES, MVS and CD. I know AES was a home system, but was there graphic differences, different games? Thanks E
Metalzoic Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Most of the games were identical and the difference was usually just the main menu. Things like "insert coin" vs "press start" or an extra "options" etc... Some had other differences like Samurai Shodown 5 Special was censored for the home version. As far as wheels go there is no difference, because in MAME you can switch between the MVS, AES and Unibios bios's.
Aorin Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Hi, I'm copying this from other thread, where I put some differences regarding NGCD. Raine runs NEO GEO CD games just fine and you have the option to select which loading speed you want, or none loading at all, I use 48x loading speed, cause I love the loading artwork and at the same time, it doesn't have loading, if it makes sense...Take Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, for example, it has great loading screens artworks, if you set the loading speed to 36 or 48x, it will load in 2 and 1 seconds respectively, basically the same transition as the cart version. NEO GEO CD has pretty much the same titles as NEO GEO AES/MVS, but has CD quality audio, songs in Samurai Showdown IV are a masterpiece, lots of other titles has real bands playing guitars, drums, bass, etc. The environment is far different (note, not saying it's better or worst, but different), the atmosphere of Samurai Showndown IV between AES/MVS and CD versions are really different, you have real Japanese instruments, not to mention the extras, like galleries, etc. Believe it or not, my full set of NEO GEO CD titles, according to the official database costs less than 5GB, the same as the AES version, cause what makes the NGCD games bigger are the WAV files, they are huge, but raine plays Mp3, so all you have to do is converting those WAV to MP3, set it to 320 Kbp/s quality and you won't notice quality loss, maybe only if you plan to listen those songs in a professional sound equipment. It worth keeping if you like having different gaming experiences in the same game.
ArcadeGirl Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 great video. I think i will just stick with the complete rom set I have. Thank you all much
