I think so; I cannot get on either. I think it is because you have threatened to change your name to gameshane.

What is the status? Is this server permanently down? Should we just switch over to efnet permanently?

Supposedly a payment was made but nogarth and I were talking this morning about just setting up our own IRC server as the software runs on Linux and Windows.

Why are we not using efnet? It is stable and does not require the need to maintain a server.

Why? There are several efnet servers. If one of the servers goes down, you can simply connect to another one.

If you have a personal server sitting in a bedroom or garage, then you likely will not have as much uptime, without redundancy. If an upgrade or issue occurs, then everyone depends on that one person to fix the server. If they are on vacation, the downtimes could be even longer.

From a quality standpoint, I think efnet wins. From an isolation standpoint, having an internal server would be nice.

After some time on efnet; I think I retract my statement. Sometimes it takes a few tries to connect.

Then again, there is not a lot of people who use it.

On a side note, djvj and eminem: I miss bsing on the old server. Why not pop on to the temporary server?

Oh I've had problems with it but not with connecting. Maybe living in the Silicon Valley helps. Mostly those nasty splits but more often than not, it's reliable. Freenode is good too but not any better from efnet.

That said, I don't use it it as much as I did in the late 90s and early 2000s.

I agree efnet is as old as MUDS. I think that would be the best place for it
