Good Games for "Unknown" Systems Discussion

I've always considered myself a hard-core gamer. I collect, I wait in line, I energy drink and game binge, I research, I tinker, I mod, I do all sorts of things.

But once I was introduced to Hyperspin, all of that changed.

There are so many systems that I had NEVER even heard of before...

Taito Type X
Daphne
Action Max
Wonderswan

The list goes on and on....

So as someone who's game world consisted of Nintendo, Sega, Sony, NEC, Microsoft, & SNK...

I would like to know what some fun games are for some of the more unknown systems. I'm sure there are lots of people who are on the same level as me and would LOVE some awesome recomendations for expanding their game-world.

What do you guys think?

I play pinball on this thing more than any of the games. Ha!

I'm only running TPA right now though (I deleted all my VP and FP systems/tables). Once Pinball FX3 hits (next year?) I'll add all of those tables on to.

Other than that I can't really think of any awesome obscure arcade games/systems to point you to SkyHigh.

Skyhigh you quoted the word Unknown, I'll assume you meant unknown to you, ;)

I usually mess with systems I had growing up, so Atari 2600 has memorable games like River Raid, Sea Quest, Chopper Command and Endura. You must also check out Custer's Revenge.

I then had computers so games on the ZX Spectrum with Manic Miner, Knight Lore and Atic Atac.

Commodore 64 I loved a lot of the US Gold games like Beach Head, Raid Over Moscow, Blue Max, also Impossible Mission, Suicide Express and Uridium.

Finally the legendary Commodore Amiga which had such classics as Shadow of the Beast, Moonstone, Pinball Dreams, Barbarian, Cauldron, all these systems have too many to mention.

You just made me spit my coffee out. I didn't even think console games since I think of HSpin as being for arcade stuff.

SkyHigh if you never owned one the Vectrex system was pretty awesome. I also loved the Neo-Geo pocket color.

The Barbarian game Giga mentioned is one of my favorites. Temple of Apshai on the Atari 800. Tempest 2000 Atari Jaguar I consider one of the best games of all time (The PlayStation version isn't as good, but the Vita version is even better). Road Blasters/Road Avenger I absolutely love (Daphne laserdisc game). Starblade is one of my all time favorite arcade games. Police Force Galivan was one of my life trials so it gets a mention. For commodore 64 Raid on Bungling Bay.

Like Giga said, to many to even think of.

Lol, yeah you could have one of these threads for each system.

You guys should join in with the Hyperscore Challenge and maybe get to play something you missed or never heard of.

That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for, thank you GigaPig. I've never heard of basically any of those, though I did spot Impossible Mission in the Sega Master System the other day. I assum ethe Commodore 64 version is of better quality haha. It could be just an American thing, but basically anything outside of Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, and Microsoft is seen as obscure whenever I talk about it to people here. lol

That's awesome, I've never even heard of a "Vectrex". The Neo Geo Pocket Color I do have added, but I really only have played Sonic Pocket Adventure and Capcom vs SNK.

Haha, and yeah consoles is for sure what I was referrign to. I forget that a lot of people on here are totally into the arcade scene. For me the only 2 games I really HAD to have on arcade was The Real Ghostbusters & Segasonic the Hedgehog. I'm actually so console focused that instead of building this into a cabinet, I am building it into a custom console case (soon as I can find something suitable)

That way it's something I can take to a friends house or parties and just plug it in and go with like 2-4 controllers.

I'd been hesitant to do anything older than the original NES to be honest, but it sounds like there may be some Atari stuff worth adding in. (I've been thinking of dropping the Jaguar given it's lack of functional emulation and lack of exclusives, sans Aliens vs. Predator)

Vectrex was sweet. I've owned three, but the next one I buy I'm never selling. It'll go into my arcade room forever. Came out around the time the Colecovision did and it's the only home vector-game console I know of. Monitor is built in.
