Dilated18 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Is there any secret to speed up the process of unpacking 7zip files? Trying to unpack my ps2 set and its gonna take forever.
rfancella Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I have a script that will unzip them, and re-compress them using RAR5. Thanks, Ron Is there any secret to speed up the process of unpacking 7zip files? Trying to unpack my ps2 set and its gonna take forever. iNTiGOD Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 can you use rar5 with rocketlauncher?Yes....I've using Rons script and found compression yields about a 10% size reduction for cd based systems but loading times are cut in half. MAME High Score Tutorial For HyperSpin
Aorin Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Yes.... I've using Rons script and found compression yields about a 10% size reduction for cd based systems but loading times are cut in half. How does this script work exactly? If I choose a CD compressed in 7z, will it use Winrar 5 to decompress it faster? Aorin
Gambino147 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 A 'how to' on this would be terrific or a link if there is an existing thread.
Dilated18 Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Can u use the script to just extract the 7z without recompressing?
rfancella Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Hi all, The script does not extract any quicker than selecting all the files and clicking on Extract Here... It runs through each file, extracts it (no matter how it's compressed) and re-compresses it with RAR5. It's a "start the script, walk away and come back later, it's done". Aorin Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I tried that yesterday, made a quick test before messing with hundreds of files, I put the batch in the desktop, changed the paths according to what the batch needed, I copied a 7z rom into a test folder, when I ran the batch it asked what compression I wanted, I chose 5, suddenly it disappeared and lots of items in my desktop was deleted forever, I wonder why. Aorin
rfancella Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Aorin, Because it does not go on your desktop. The instructions plainly say to put it just outside your roms folder. Aorin Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 OK, but why my desktop items were removed FOREVER? I mean, why the batch would do such a command? Aorin
