SRBias Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Hi I love running my Mame games through RetroArch, love the shaders and filters and easier to set up in my opinion. I was wondering if there was a way however to disable the nag screen? Is there a script made to tell it that they have already been seen? Everything is perfect except for this one little annoyance. I've done some web searches, and have found actual MAME version recompiled with no nag. I need it in retroarch? Thanks for all your hard work guys I appreciate it.
NewYears1978 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 What Nag screen? Retroarch doesn't have a nag screen..then again I haven't ran MAME through it so maybe it has a nag screen just like other MAME? If so it would probably have to be a recompiled core? (Or maybe there's an option) I've heard that MAME is much better standalone thus I use MAMEUIFX and not Retroarch. I might have to check into it later though. Are you an HTPC user? NewYears1978 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 On the Mame core settings if my memory is still good! That's what I was thinking, so you need to run a game, hit F1 and look int he core specific options. (Only show when a rom is loaded) Are you an HTPC user? Tribe Fan Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I remember reading somewhere, too, that there was not a way to remove the nag screen from the mame core. I'd be using retroarch for mame too if it wasn't for that.
Tribe Fan Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I just found it. It was a thread you created actually haha. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/13305-mame-vs-retroarch Haha! That's why it's ringing a bell.
Awakened Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Yeah, the current versions have the core option removed since it broke. I have a version of the core from March of last year that has the option working here. Someone who can compile cores could modify the source with the no nag patch and upload the .dll somewhere, like people do for stand alone MAME. But the core's source hasn't been synced with mainline MAME since October, so it'd be a bit behind stand alone.
SRBias Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Awakened, thank you for the core man... That is just what I needed.
gigapig Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Each to their own of course but if you want decent shaders for mame use glsl and either the Lotte's shader or CRT-geom. Much less hassle than using RA.
